Guess this is what happens when you control small fires for years. The stuff that's supposed to burn out is left behind as fodder for newer and larger fires. I really hope the Springs get some serious rains soon... Lord knows it's been raining like crazy in quite a few places (Northwest, Minnesota, Southeast...).
One of my old professors didn't make himself popular by stating that building cities next to forests in dry climates is a bad idea... unfortunately he's right, though. I don't know if there are any good solutions to the problem... controlled fires in the winter time to burn out all the dead stuff and only leave behind healthy trees?
