Brandon Ewing (10/15/14):

"Wow... A portrait of me in the new arena is DOPE but to be next to Marcus Bailey means so much!! When I committed to Wyoming as a 17 year old kid, and walked in the rac and seen all those faces of the GREATS... I told my mom, I just wanted to be in the same breathe as those guys. I watched film on Marcus, Donte Richardson, Jay Straight, Dembo, Reggie Slator, Josh Davis and of course I heard of the jump shot creator Kenny Sailors and the REAL scoring champ Flynn Robinson. I just wanted to be great like them by leaving Wyoming better than I found it. And my mom told me to work harder than ever and I did on those late nights in the gym, shooting extra shots. After bad games going back to the gym. Could have transferred but stayed true to my commitment and to the people of Wyo.... I am forever thankful for Gods gift!! #TheRealist"

Wyoming has offers extended to Walton (#2), Bassey (#4) and Thomas (#6):

Dallas Walton F Arvada, COArvada West:
"After missing much of this last club season with a knee injury, Walton still remains a long, athletic and high-major long term prospect."

Ladarius Thomas G Aurora, COAurora Central:
"One of the most complete players in the class, Thomas can play both guard spots in college. Most years, he'd be the top player in CO."

Formative Frontcourts

Oldsmar Christian

6’9 SR Anderw Momeka, 6’8 JR Dante Bassett

Oldsmar has an outstanding backcourt so Momeka and Bassett will need to make the most of the opportunities they will receive. Momeka is at his best when he can run the floor or connect on lobs in the half-court. To his credit, his jump shot was much improved when we viewed him this summer. Bassett isn’t the athlete that Momeka is but he is strong with very good hands and a nose for the basket when he gets the ball in the paint.

Best of the Backcourts – Part II

Without solid guard play, success on the basketball court is hard to come by. It becomes much more difficult to advance the ball, score, or contain the other team on the perimeter without it. With that in mind, we take a look at what we think will be some of the better backcourts this coming high school season.

Oldsmar Christian

6’7 SR Justin James, 6’5 SR Kyle Clark, 6’3 JR Eric Hester, 6’4 SO L.J. Figueroa

Without question, this is the deepest perimeter group in the state. Each of these players has high levels of skill, athleticism, versatility, and court savvy. James has already committed to Wyoming. He is a triple-double waiting to happen. Clark isn’t the athlete or shooter James is but he isn’t far behind. He too can stuff a stat sheet. Hester is a high-major recruit and a guy that takes great pride in his defense. Figueroa is part of the Dominican national team and plays with a knowledge of the game that belies his young age.

What happens when a Larry Nance Jr or Josh Adams or any of the new guys make it to the NBA and give Wyo a big donation in the future? We already have the nicest facility coming to Laramie, what else could be done?

Free beer?

Alley fun behind the buck?

Pool tables on the concourse? The after parties in the AA would become things of legend....

One of Jordan's comments in Lacock's article:

"I feel so highly of the coaching staff and the way they run things," he said. "The most important factor in my decision was probably coaching and I felt very comfortable with the coaches and their plans on how I can benefit the team."
