Summer Hoops Notes and Pics

Austin led the game in scoring. I saw one of his tweets this summer that said his middle name is trey so his three shot must be coming around. I can't imagine trying to guard a guy that fast that can consistently hit the three ball. That's damn near impossible.

In addition, the opposing point, 4 star Lamonte Turner, was 4-11 from the field and o-fer from three land. It looks like Austin can defend as well.

I posted a blurb from a rivals recruiting article on another thread. It should probably be in this one as well. I love the Austin Conway commit. He sounds like the future.

"Wyoming did well to lock up three-star point guard Austin Conway early. Conway checks in at around 5-foot-9, but he has serious speed. In fact, Conway is as fast with the ball as any point guard in the country and his football background shows in his toughness. He is a bulldog defender and can take his team from defense to offense in a hurry."

POKE FAN, thanks for all of these great off season updates! :thumb:

I am so stoked for the season to start this year. The future looks bright for Wyoming basketball.

No problem. I'm as pumped for this season and the future of Cowboys basketball as anyone. Here's a picture of Nance at this weekend's CFD Tim McGraw concert. Looks to me like Larry is ready to destroy SDSU and CS-ewe:

With Florida basketball recruits Justin James, Eric Turner and Andrew Moemeka all visiting Laramie within the next week, is Jeremy trying to tell us something with his tweet below?:

He's probably telling us that the three recruits coming in this weekend are from Florida. The coaching staff is recruiting a ton of Florida kids, probably due to Shyatt being a big part of the Gators/Donovan's success.

Jeremy has also produced semi-cryptic tweets in the past giving hints as to what may/will transpire with certain recruits. Is he feeling good about the chances of landing one (or more) of these kids after the Laramie visits based upon communications/interactions we as fans know little about?

Larry Shyatt is well respected in the state of Florida and has a lot of recruiting contacts because of it. That's the main reason they recruit Florida so hard. Plus the fact that Florida is a recruiting hotbed making it a no-brainer for the staff at this point.

Don't think too hard about the Florida t-shirt.
Remember that Jerron Granberry is from Miami and is a grad assistant.
Hankerson is from Miami.
Papa Shy coached for several years at Florida.
Baby Shy also coached for several years in the state of Florida.

It could be that he is hinting that there are some Florida recruits coming to Laramie, but it could also be that he just found a cool shirt for him and some other players.

This is GREAT to hear.
Damn right. All indications are that Larry will be ready for OOC play. Great news all around concerning the big guy. How confident will he be in the knee early on when he's on the court moving hard laterally? That's what I'm interested in seeing. Of course, it will take him some time to get back into game shape, too.

It'll be interesting early on to see how Shyatt will divvy up minutes at the Four/Five. Personally, I'd love to see Coach Shy redshirt the freshmen bigs -- especially Barnes -- but they may have a hard time keeping some/most of these freshmen off the court this year. We shall see.

Good! We don't need to play AFA at home to beat them, but we might need to play Boise at home to beat them!
That works out great. Screw going to Boise, it's a hard place to win, and screw AFA coming here. Even though they seem to beat us in Laramie lately anyways, I don't think we need to play them here to get our W (when healthy).

We beat AFA and BSU on the road last year and lost to both at home.....

But logic says that isn't the norm.
Pretty sure we also lost to both of these teams at home without Nance.
