And who added the lame C O W B O Y S cowboys, cowboys, cowboys to the end of Cowboy Joe? That truly sucked. How many even know the words to the song these days? I didn't hear anyone singing it.
Wait....what?

How long have you been living under a rock exactly? Maybe one of those whiskey bottles being tossed around hit you in the head...

As a proud member of the Freezer Section I can tell you we were pretty damn creative. So much so that Frank Arnold coach of BYU called us "despicable." Of course we turned that into a battle cry. BYU would come onto the floor and we would all chant "We're Despicable," started at a low pitch and growing into a loud crescendo. BYU also insisted that Police be stationed behind their bench as bodyguards. That of course was because during the opposing player introductions we'd hold up Branding Irons then wad them up and throw them at the opposing team's bench. The problem came when people started wrapping the BI around oranges and rocks. I guarantee you Danny Ainge had nightmares about the "Freezer Section."
And against CSU we wouldn't even use the BI, we'd just throw bananas at those guys, because their coach Jim Williams referred to us as a bunch of gorillas. Washakie eventually quite serving bananas on CSU game days.

Looking back...the politeness / good guy mandate started with Lee Moon really. He was a dick of an AD, and unfortunately passed that mentality on to both Barta, and Burman, administrations, who both jumped right on board with it.

Things became increasingly worse though, when apathy hit even harder - under Burman's watch - and his firing of Bucky, hiring of Heath, extending Heath, firing Heath, firing Glenn, hiring Dickface, firing Dickface.

I remember when I was a student and we were in the front row and Lee Moon came over before the game to talk to the students. He proceeded to cuss at us students to ask us not to use profanity during the game. Hypocrite much? Man I hated that guy. I managed to be plenty loud without profanity. Those were fun times...

Go watch the 1987 NCAA game http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_QoZHfXInjM and you will see what he means. They used to play it faster and there was no COWBOYS in the middle. Also of note, the mascot looks like one hell of a bad ass. No stupid foam head, an awesome duster and one hell of a porn-stache. THAT is what pistol pete should look like.

Dembo with 41 & 9. Wow. I saw a younger McPeachy in the stands as well - on several occasions. That was an absolute blast (along with beating Vaginia two nights earlier).

Yup.
I was 11 or 12 ish in the Fieldhouse days. Remember bananas raining down on the court. Seeing my first alley-oop, to Charles Bradley, and thinking it was the greatest play I had ever seen.

Oh I'm sure we are all aware that Cowboy Joe has changed a little over the years. The shocker for me, and I'm guessing Whyoh and TSPoke, is that the song has been this way for a LONG time, like at least 15-20 years...when was the last time the original poster was at a game???

Not gonna lie - I still don't like when they added the COWBOYS chant in the middle of Cowboy Joe, and I still don't do it. I'm not even that old. It was added around the same time we switched our colors to prairie gold and made our mascot a dumb horse in a cowboy costume.

In regard to the comment relating to moving the upset mom to another seat, the problem then would be that Landmark would be on her ass for not sitting in the seat her ticket says she is supposed to be seated in! The atmosphere in the "Dome of Doom" has been IMHO "going downhill" for quite some time. Frankly I do not see Renovation #1 (or better; Seat Capacity Reduction #1) doing anything to reduce or stop that "going downhill" slide. I doubt if Renovation #2 (or, Seat Capacity Reduction #2) will help either; in fact some of us unfortunately see the next renovation as the likely end of the "Dome of Doom."

It was added in 92 or 93. Before the advent of spooge or prarie gold. I remember because we had to change it in marching band before the first football game. The story at the time was that Tillers wife came up with it. Don't know if that is true or not. It works to fill the gap while extra points are kicked but sucks otherwise.
