This reply is a gem.

What are the problems at UW? The football team isn't Boise State? UW is a great university. It offers a quality education at affordable prices for even out of state students. The professors and lecturers are for the most part the equal or better than other land grant institutions. In fact, some of UW's professors are world class scholars and some departments are ranked in the top 10 or 20 of all universities in their areas of expertize. Class sizes are small when compared to other universities in the Rocky Mountains. The facilities - in general - are second to none - with plans (some not as far along as others) in place to replace those facilities that are aging.

Now we get Dr. Sternberg who can only find fault with everything at the university. He knowingly or unknowingly insults the entire campus by not recognizing the great work done by his predecessors and the good people who have devoted large portions of their career to the university. Positive change is good. Building on what is already there is what UW needed in a new President. Instead we get someone who has a track record of being a human wrecking ball. I don't blame Sternberg. It is in his DNA. He is simply the wrong person in the wrong place at the wrong time with the wrong ideas. It is time for the trustees to step up to the plate, be ethical leaders, admit that Sternberg was a huge mistake, and start over again. There is no shame in doing this. There is shame in hanging on to a mistake and trying to prop up someone who in just four months has destroy the faith and trust of the university community.

In the last 24 hours, after reading the CSA report, I've realized there is alot more that has went wrong at the University of Wyoming than the Athletics department. It is time to re-evaluate every aspect of the University and Sternberg seems right up to the task of doing that. He's not going to make many friends along the route - good for him.

typical Wyoming statement, if it's not broke don't fix it, well with that we'll stay where we are for years to come, there comes a time when things move so far forward that if you don't keep up you'll truly be left behind. Wyoming really needs to get with the program(s), adapt and move into the 21st Century like everywhere else or we will NEVER be competitive in ANYTHING.
I don't like change when its forced down your throat, but if it's brought about in a way that shows how it may benefit the school, students and people of Wyoming then why not accept the change and MOVE ON.
Something had to start happening and people are upset that results are coming much quicker than they ever expected.

I read that letter and was shocked (at first). Then I realized, that the lady that wrote it is out of her mind, and quite uneducated on the situation. She knows not what she writes. Simply put - she is a fucking idiot.

I responded to the idiotic comments made my "wyotruth" and "packerpoke." Then wyotruth responded back to me.

"packerpoke" - that says it all right there.

Oh, jeez...I remember her.

Oh ya...the worst writing of any poster I have ever seen on a message board. Ever.

I don't really care that much, just curious. I didn't see the original letter.

I think Sternberg's vision is right on point. It's hard to ignore, however. that 8 people of significant importance are already gone in just 4 months. A resignation every 2 weeks. Even if he has the right ideas, a turnover rate like that and the inability to work with others isn't going to help this University.

All these people who left now have to be replaced by deans and provosts better than what we had before. Are those people going to be willing to come to Wyo after knowing how many have already abandoned their posts? I don't think I'd be signing up for a cluster fuck if I didn't have to.

IIRC all of the staff that resigned are still teaching as faculty. If they really couldn't work with Sternburg why are they still on staff? I think it was a difference in vision. Buchanon was hands off and let the deans do whatever they wanted. Sternburg wants to know whats going on and guide the deans with his vision. Most aren't going to like being told what to do and they will resign as they have done.

Because regular faculty doesn't really deal much with the President of the University and finding a new job in November for a college professor isn't easy.

Too early to tell. We'll see what happens I guess!
