I think he's doing what needs to be done. I'm sorry to hear that some people are happy with where we are. I'm not. As I wrote in a letter to President Sternberg, we should be striving to be the best in any area that we choose to participate. Law, Engineering, Natural Resources, Music, Athletics, everything! I'm personally very happy that we have someone in a position of power that has the vision and the gumption to make the necessary changes so that we can be the best.
Mediocrity has been a long standing problem in Wyoming. People get up in arms about "outsiders" coming in and try to change the status quo. Well people, change isn't easy. There are going to be some hurt feeling along the way, and it's going to make people uncomfortable. Sounds a lot like junior high, doesn't it? Just like our physical changes growing into adults, these growing pains are necessary for us to get better. It's going to be a bumpy ride, but I have faith that there are great things down the road for UW. We just needed the right person to turn us in the right direction.
