From my breif encounters with other students about the topic I have noticed that a majority don't know anything that is going on. From the ones that do know anything about it they seem to be getting the law school side of the story, and very few are not happy about the president being let go. Again I have only talked to a few people about this so take that info for what it is worth hopefully BP and Wyokeoke will be able to expand.
We talked about it shortly in my economics class. But it's more what Yank said, half the students didn't know what happened or could care less and the ones that knew were happy he resigned. I haven't honestly found any other student who shares the same view as this board. Which just shows that students who go here seem to be happy with being average and mediocre and good enough. It's pretty shitty
I would agree with this, the majority have no clue what's going on, and those that do are mostly lae students who are obviously happy about it. Very few like mosy of us on here, aware and unhappy about it. That.government class didnt even mention it once, instead.talked about Guatemala. What a fucking joke that isYankPoke said:

I'm related to a current law student. My opinion is that the law students don't even know many/half of the facts but that being law students (who love to argue - - sometimes for the sake of arguing) they had to react to the Dean resigning. I quizzed my relative on what facts they know or believe and those were the same ones that Professor Easton expressed in both his resignation letter and speech at the Town Hall. It appears to me that some law students were easily incited by the resignation letter/town hall and acted prior to any good fact finding.
The law students may be absolutely right and there may have been good reason to get rid of Sternberg...but to act without any clear fact finding is disappointing to me. I certainly would not have signed my name to the open letter without knowing much more.

The law school is classified as a mid-Third Tier institution and they're ranked in the 120's. The only high ranking they get is affordability, so they've got that going for them. They're cheap.
Yet perish the thought that anyone review what the college is offering, how it is performing and how it is serving the state's unique resources-based economy. Apparently this kind of review would cause such umbrage that student protests, hijacking of town hall meetings and the self-humiliating faux-martyrdom of the dean are all justified.

I am an alum of the law school and it has been disheartening to watch numerous good professors leave in recent years basically because we are too cheap. The lack of funding is directly due to the lack of funding by the University and legislature and is not of the law school's own desire.
Basically it is the we are fine with being mediocre mentality of those in charge of the money.

I have talked with multiple UW law school graduates today who have expressed embarrassment with respect to how Easton conducted himself through this episode. I believe that embarrassment is well placed.
