Stanard

I'm not writing him off. I was just showing what his more recent track record is. BUT part of the reason Tulane wasn't good was because of their defense.

In 2013 the 2nd year after Stanard was gone Tulane's defense ranked 22nd in total defense giving up 350 ypg. 18th in ppg giving up 21.4 ppg. They finished at 7-6 for the year.

2014 The team took a step back but still ranked 81 in ppg giving up 28.4 ppg which is more than a touchdown less than Stanard defenses ever gave up . Total defense ranked 56 giving up 387 ypg.

So we will see if Stanard can improve or not but his track record based up on being given 3 or 4 chances already he has never improved. He seems to be pretty consistent.
Two + years removed from firing Bob Toledo as their head coach as well (he was fired during the 2011 season). Toledo never had much success....regardless of who his coordinators were.

My point is that Tulane improved under a different DC , something Stanard has failed to do multiple times. BUT to your point being that the reason Stanard has failed is because he has never worked with a good head coach and you believe Bohl is good enough to make Stanard better. Since the buck stops with the head coach we will see.

It could end up helping Stanard but the way Bohl runs things from what I have gathered is more like a CEO of the team and lets the coordinators do what they wish and doesn't try to interfere too much. Not saying he doesn't have input but if Stanard is left to do as he wishes then I think the results could possibly end up the same as his past but we will see.

Sonny wasn't a bad coach and had good defenses...until Stanard.

Hell, Stanard was the best thing to happen to WYO during that era.

Stanard was Bohl's second choice (or lower?) for DC - he expected current NDSU coach Klieman to come over to Wyoming with him as DC. I am curious if Bohl is really acting as CEO on the defensive side - wondering if he may be more hands on to make sure Stanard runs the D as expected.

Tulane was not a great program to begin with....like New Mexico State and CSU under Fairchild

You guys can write him off....I'm going to give him the benefit of doubt....especially now that he is working on Bohl's staff.

I wrote him off long ago and anyone that doesn't breathe through their mouth would be wise to as well. Wyoming hasn't been a better than average program (let alone great) since Clinton! Wyoming has been piss poor and an embarrassment to the conference going on 15 years. Wyoming is Tulane and New Mexico State; arguably worse. As Hulk Hogan would say: "GET YOUR HEAD OUT OF YOUR ASS, BROTHER!!!"

We're fans of a shitty football team that at its lowest level in forty years STILL deserves better than Steve Stanard. He's the Heath Schroyer/Isiah Thomas/John Blake/Charlie Weis of DC's for backwater G5 football teams that don't have a lot of choices. The boil on the ass of college football defenses. Some people just suck at their jobs. Steve Stanard sucks at the job of being a defensive coordinator. Stats back this claim up, but people still keep giving him the benefit of the doubt which I find HILARIOUS.

Bohl becoming more hands on with the defense?

Man have I seen this before. I remember when DC wanted to get more hands on with the offense because he was an offensive minded coach, and that definitely saved our program.

Haha... fuck us.

Fact is that if we have a DC that can't do what a DC is supposed to do, and the HC has to pull double duty, that is not a good thing. Unless of course we had Dick LeBeau acting as the HC and DC of our team.
