Toledo never had much success....regardless of who his coordinators were.seattlecowboy said:I'm not writing him off. I was just showing what his more recent track record is. BUT part of the reason Tulane wasn't good was because of their defense.
In 2013 the 2nd year after Stanard was gone Tulane's defense ranked 22nd in total defense giving up 350 ypg. 18th in ppg giving up 21.4 ppg. They finished at 7-6 for the year.
2014 The team took a step back but still ranked 81 in ppg giving up 28.4 ppg which is more than a touchdown less than Stanard defenses ever gave up . Total defense ranked 56 giving up 387 ypg.
So we will see if Stanard can improve or not but his track record based up on being given 3 or 4 chances already he has never improved. He seems to be pretty consistent.
My point is that Tulane improved under a different DC , something Stanard has failed to do multiple times. BUT to your point being that the reason Stanard has failed is because he has never worked with a good head coach and you believe Bohl is good enough to make Stanard better. Since the buck stops with the head coach we will see.
It could end up helping Stanard but the way Bohl runs things from what I have gathered is more like a CEO of the team and lets the coordinators do what they wish and doesn't try to interfere too much. Not saying he doesn't have input but if Stanard is left to do as he wishes then I think the results could possibly end up the same as his past but we will see.
