Sports Streaming

It looks like Playstation Vue will be gone after January 30th. What does everyone use to stream live tv these days? I've been looking at youtube a bit closer (https://tv.youtube.com).

Ideas?

Hulu Live. Has CBSSN and overall best sports package. PlayStation Vue did so little marketing in a crowded space that this isn’t surprising.

Commandotv.com is the best by far.

$10 a month you get over 2,000 channels. Every sports station there is. You also get every NFL game, every NBA game, every MLB and NHL game and almost every college game. You can stream on your phone or computer or just get a firestick for your tv.

You also get all of the Pay per view events as part of the package. That includes all UFC and boxing events. Myself and family members have been using it for over a year.

I started with Hulu Live and wasn't a big fan, so I've been using YouTubeTV for about the last year and I like it much better than Hulu. The interface is much better than Hulu's in my opinion, and I think the channel selection is better, especially for sports viewing. They also just added Discovery and are adding PBS later in the year.

The DVR is great too, unlimited recording that is stored on the cloud for up to 9 months. And you can watch at home, on your cell phone, laptop, tablet, desktop, etc. So I can watch at home, at work or on the road.

The YouTube tv is pretty great... I've been with them since the start of the service (was part of the "beta"). The whole reason I went with it to begin with is that it offered all the major live sports outlets. It has actually only gotten better since I've been a subscriber.... But the price has also increased. One way I offset this is that i pause my subscription during the summer...(I don't really follow baseball)

You haven't noticed your computer slowing down or any other ill
effects from a possible virus or other parasite?

No because it doesn’t work like the sites you are thinking of. You download an app for your phone. There is a code you input into the firestick to watch on the tv. It is actual streaming not one of those old websites that we all used to go on to try to watch games that had all the ads on it. There are no ads. It is live TV.

It also has all of the HBO’s, Cinemax, Showtimes and every channel you can possibly imagine. A lot of people I know have used this and canceled their cable. But some still have their cable and use this as well.

Thanks everyone. This gives me something to chew on for a bit. I haven't had cable in many years, and I turned my PS VUE off after basketball and back on at football season - just because I don't watch TV.

Commandotv looks interesting. Something about the site is a bit off, but I haven't been able to find any reason to think its not legit at this point.

Youtube and Hulu both look interesting as well. I suppose I should see if Amazon Video has anything worth looking into as well.

I always found it interesting that PS Vue had like a million ESPN channels, but only one of them usually had anything on.

Crazy times!

Thanks for your help!

I'd say the main thing about CommandoTV is that although they don't have malware or are overloaded with ads like most streaming sites, they're still running illegally and you have to give them your credit card information. This opens you up to getting sued by the content providers similarly to what happened to people back in the day who downloaded music and software illegally (though typically they went after the ones who shared rather than just the ones downloading).

As long as you're okay with that tiny risk (and obviously with getting content illegally), it seems like a decent option.

You won’t get sued by the content providers. The only ones that could get in trouble are the owners of the site. And they already had a big deal where they tried to shut the sites down that are just like Commandotv but they just went over to another provider. Nothing they can do because it is from another country. Like I said, I and many other people have been using it for over a year.

CommandoTV is an IPTV site. There are several.

Here’s a link to learn more:

You very much could be sued - your credit card is what ties you to them - this is why paying with something like BTC is recommended in the post above mine. Like I mentioned, the risk is very low, but it being hosted outside the U.S. means zero in terms of your own liability - you're just putting the trust in that a foreign entity won't give out all your info to international law enforcement.

Just ask all those who got fined tens of thousands of dollars for using Kazaa, DC++, or PirateBay weren't exactly saved by the fact those were all hosted out of Europe.

I would not rely on this legal advice. Breach of copyright/copyright infringement by the end user is absolutely a recoverable civil action. A knowing breach of copyright exposes one to potential criminal liabilities and treble/punitive damages civilly.

“Nothing they can because it is from another country.” Wow that is awful legal advice. I suspect you are domiciled in the United States and thus certainly the courts would have jurisdiction over you.

Not sure where you got your law license or where you studied intellectual property law but you oughta freshen up.

This has already been researched by thousands of people. I don’t need to freshen up on anything. Lol ..... It has already been proven the people who get in trouble are the people who resell the stream. Not the people who are just streaming the service.

And Commando uses IPTV but they also use another app as well.

Anyways not here to argue about it when I already know the answers to all of the questions. I was just sharing another streaming idea. If you are paranoid then I guess it’s not for you. I’m not here for legal advice or to give it. Do your own research on streaming.

From the research I and others have done as well as talking with lawyers the only way you get into trouble is if you are recording the content or downloading the content. Otherwise the only people that can get in trouble are the resellers. It is perfectly legal to stream tv.

Again as I said I was just throwing out another streaming suggestion. If someone isn’t comfortable using it then don’t do it.

Whoa - didn't mean to start that guys! Here is what I find weird about CommandoTV:
1.) Price - ESPN generally charges cable companies about $40/mo per user. (I hate subsidizing ESPN)
2.) Website - their website is off

Here is what I find interesting about CommandoTV:
1.) Reviews on legit sites pointing ppl towards it.
2.) No quickly available information pointing out its overseas, illegal, etc.

I haven't followed cable cutting in quite some time. I quit working for cable tv co's about a decade ago, and frankly, outside of sports, I just don't watch TV anymore.
