Spack interviewing

Over on the gowyogo board they have posted a couple of tweets from Bruce Feldman that he is on the WYO campus today interviewing.

"IllinoisSt coach Brock Spack had a bad yr but he's a Joe Tiller guy, and heard he's gaining momentum for Wyoming vacancy." - @BFeldmanCBS

re: "BFeldmanCBS He's on Wyoming's campus now interviewing" - @footballscoop

I am not sure how I feel about this, he has not been very successful at Illinois State, and he has actually done worse in his third year than in the first two. I feel this would be more of the Schroyer situation than anything and just picking a Tiller guy. If we are taking a chance like this I would rather take a chance on Gilmore than him.

so...if Spack ends up being the pick, does Tiller come on board to be his OC? That is the only way I can see this being considered...

Just took a look at the scores of the Illinois State games this year. Spack is a defensive guru? The scores don't really reflect it. The wins look good, but the losses are pretty bad. Almost reflects the year the Cowboys had.

Purdue connection and former wyoming DC

"As defensive coordinator at Wyoming in 1995 and 1996, Spack recharged the defense, which improved from fifth to second in total defense in the Western Athletic Conference (WAC). The Cowboys topped the WAC in sacks during his two years, including a school-record 46 in 1996."

Believe what you want but those D numbers aren't good at all but if one knows FCS football, that is a very tough schedule. Most of those loses came to the big boys of FCS. Not to mention another loss came to a MAC school.

I figured Spack would get it from the get go( at least a finalist) since he has strong ties to WYO ( Tiller), was a high level DC ( Purdue & high ranked D for multiple yrs), and he has had HC experience ( albeit at FCS level).

I would expect that the other finalist is Gilmore.

My only concern about either is the staff that the in. I would hope that the new coach would be able to bring in quality coordinators. I would also like to see coach Kaligis stay since he seems to being doing a great job recruiting the PNW, and his player respect him.

The players seem to see Kaglis as almost a second father, from what I understand.

Would love to see him stay on the staff.

So random ass candidate may get the job? Geez....at least hire an FCS coach whose had some high level success. This guys resume is far from stellar. If its Spack, then WTF? Why not just keep DC if this was the plan? Come on Burman.

Yes, someone random guy is going to get the job. Schools don't really hire coaches based on polls on fan message boards. No matter how much we'd like them to!

Its looking like Burman has no plan or idea what the fuck he is doing. He is incompetent, the Bot is incompetent, the university is incompetent, the leadership is incompetent. Wyoming doesnt want to win, have the desire or will to be successful. We are fuck as fans and nothing is gonna change any time soon. WE ARE FUCKED.
