After an extended period of underachievement like Michigan has endured, nobody outside the base cares what the program used to be. It's about what the program is, and where the program is going.

From Inside Access:A former coach added that some Big Ten schools are "too politically correct" when it comes to priorities and spending. "There's some people on campus who are saying, wait a second, is this necessary?" another former Big Ten coach said. "Well, yes it is if you want to win championships.

which would make it all the more hilarious if Harbaugh fails at Michigan.

Wishful thinking, but it's not going to happen. Within 3 seasons they will be back at the top of the Big10

Maybe so but I'm still hoping it happens. Top of the Big10? If he can take down Ohio st., Mich st., Penn st., who all have top notch coaching staffs as well, more power to him.

Don't forget what he did in a very short time in the NFL. Against the best coaching staffs in the game. And what he did at Stanford. Recruits will instantly be rethinking their verbals and have Michigan on their list again.

Harbaugh is a better College coach than an NFL coach because he is a players coach and he will excel at Michigan just like he did at Stanford. He turned Stanford from a failing 4-8 in 07 to 12-1 in 2010.

But yet he prefers the NFL to the NCAA. He also hates having to "share" his athletes with professors...I'll be interested to see if he has any academic problems at UM in the next few years.

None that I'm directly aware of, but I've heard from a coworker that worked with Harbaugh directly that he hates worrying about academics, he wants football players, not student-athletes.
