First time poster, but it looks like the timing is right to jump right in.
What are your thoughts on the 10 following potential candidates (at least potential in my mind, I have no insider info):
1. Craig Bohl - HC at North Dakota State - Seems to be a popular candidate, but I think he has his eyes set on a bigger program.
2. Todd Orlando - DC at Utah State - Took us to the woodshed, always has top defenses and has experience in the Big East including the Fiesta Bowl.
3. Robin Pflugrad - OC at Weber State - Had a great record at Montana and would think he wants to get back to being a HC. Has some baggage in his past that might need to be checked, and I'm a little leery of ex-FCS coaches (see Joe Glenn).
4. Mark Mangino - OC at Youngstown State - Another baggage guy, but undeniably turned the Kansas program around quickly. Former Coach of the Year, BCS experience, probably wants to get back in as HC and might be willing to come at what we might be willing to pay.
5. John Wristen - HC at CSU-Pueblo - Yes, another D2 guy, but has built a program from scratch and taken it to the top in just a few years. Had prior experience coaching special teams/TE's at UCLA under Karl Dorrell.
6. Gary Barnett - ex-HC at Colorado - Out of coaching for a few years, but might be had cheaply. Former Coach of the Year and big success at CU and Northwestern. Like Bob Davie at UNM, might need to shake off the rust, but could be a steal.
7. Ed Orgeron - ex-USC interim coach - Like Bohl, probably won't come to a smaller program. But throwing him in for conversation.
8. Brent Pease - ex-Florida OC - yes, another coordinator, but has former ties to Boise and might want to come back West.
9. Pat Narduzzi - DC at Michigan State - Rumors have this guy as possibly the best available assistant in the country right now. Almost went to Cincinnati after Brian Kelly went to Notre Dame. Probably wouldn't stay long, but might get things on track.
10. Bill Young - ex-DC at Oklahoma State - already a "consultant" - possibly likely to take the reins?
Any thoughts/comments/other ideas....
