So what did you think?

Now that the game is over and you have experienced the Big Red invasion I am curious as to your impressions, experiences, etc. Did we bring more fans than you expected? We we all arrogant SOBS? :D Will any of you be making the trip to Lincoln in 2013? Just wondering.

Thought we let Nebraska off the hook, right out of the gate starting the second half. Wyoming could have been more competitive, but it truly appeared we pissed our pants at halftime (again).

Every fanbase has asshats. Yours included. Overall, much more so than any fanbase that has visited the War in the past 20 years, with the exception of CSewe of course. Met some great fans as well though. It is what it is, and what I expected, so I didn't dwell on it then, and won't now.

Yep, I will be in Lincoln. Probably going to buy as many tickets as possible, and scalp all but 2, so I can pay for my trip.

That all being said, would you post this and other things (today) had Wyoming beaten Nebraska on Saturday? That answer will give you a decent view as to whether you are one of the "Nebraska arrogant" or not. LOL

Other than Nebraska's close proximity to Wyoming, I wouldn't say there was anything special about them. Certainly not on the same level as Wyoming taking over Moby or Clune arenas. Like all non conference football games, most of the home crowd is hospitipal and most of the visitors are gracious. There were a couple of guys in our section that were being d!ckheads but that only lasted until their liquid courage wore off. But for every Nebraska fan that was worried some crazed lunatic was actually following them to the parking lot, there were a dozen that were well behaved and had a good time.

As for the team, sorry, played many top 10 teams and Nebraska didn't stack up. Should be real interesting this weekend vs Wisconsin.

Yes, I would have posted basically the same things. I would have been very disappointed, but it would not have completely ruined the trip. We still would have had all the same fun leading up to the game.

So far this season we have not looked like a top 10 team. We seem to be playing to the level of our competition. We have also looked like 2 different teams. the sucky first half team and then the dominant second half team. We have won our games by decent margins, but have not covered the point spreads. Some fans think we have been holding back for the big 10 games. I think we have a bunch of young players that are still learning and getting better. We have the athletes, they are just inexperienced.

I think you may be selling your team a little short. Maybe they are a little better than you think rather than Nebraska not being that good. How do you see the rest of your season going? What are your predictions on W-L the rest of the way?

Nebraska did what was expected of them, buy every ticket they could get their hands on. I wasn't suprised by that, but rather the number of Wyoming fans who obviously sold out.

Most of the Neb fans were classy and I had a couple stop by our tailgate and we greeted them with open beer coolers and had some nice small talk. We met some pretty cool neb fans during our halftime run for more beer.

I was in the student section and the Neb fans who were in that section were obnoxious and thats to be expected from any visiting fan who decides to sit in the student section, likely because they are Uw grads or native Wyomingites who have yellow (should I say red) bellies.

As for the game, the door was open for a Wyoming victory. It wasn't open for long and it wasn't a big opening, but it was certainly a lot bigger opportunity than it the past several years which gives me hope. I felt like Wyoming closed that door more than Nebraska did although Nebraska likely would have won anyway. Martinez isn't very impressive throwing the football but when you can power sweep like that it doesn't matter against an undermanned UW front 7.

Predictions on the rest of the year? The next game will be HUGE for Wyoming. I feel like the real season begins now. We were all excited for Nebraska and we all hoped we would be 3-1 at this point. Utah St. is a good team. If we win that, 7 wins look very doable, maybe even 8 if we continue to improve. So far the MWC hasn't been that impressive.

Lose that and the seasons not over by any means, but the margin of error gets really small.

Alyssa, are you really a ranch hand? If so, I am impressed both with your work ethic and your knowledge of college football. Not to many woman follow the game and are knowledgeable. The woman I married probably knows as much about football as I, but she is not a ranch hand, she's a pharmacist and has an intelligence level that I can only dream about. Yes, I married well, but she is my best friend and soul mate. Couldn't ask for better.

Actually, her "ranchhand" status is to do with how many posts one has on here. Like how yours says "Buckaroo," though I don't think you're a 5 year old kid. ;)

That ranch had thing is just about how many messages one has.

No, I'm an (old) athlete. I grew up with football in TEXAS, where I still live. I grew up loving the Plano Wildcats, who for years were one of the best with 7 state championships, before the population growth just changed things too much. I loved the Dallas Cowboys and SMU Mustangs and Princeton, where I graduated after 4 years. Then I went to SMU. The small town I lived in was a farming town with a railroad through it and had a maximum population of 394 and doesn't exist anymore. Now it is all concrete etc. and is part of Dallas.

I like to follow a few other college teams who I have a heart for for different reasons. One of them is Wyoming, who my husband followed well. He played at a Big Ten school and had an epiphany while playing against Wyoming. But I refuse to talk much about him.

My hobbies include criminology, forensics and medical studies. I used to write and sing my own songs and write novels but the last 5 or so years I can't get myself to do that anymore. Sometimes my sig line has my own lyrics. Mostly, I use Aimee's lyrics. I loved her before she was popular and she is so great.

That song " I Could Hurt You Now" is the one that I refer to as my own personal "national anthem," saying that each person is a country with an anthem.
In this case I put that sig there with the thought of all of the conference realignment bullshit that I'm tired of. And now that I've said too much.............

Now I feel really dumb. I am usually much more observant than that. No Alyssa, you didn't say too much. I am still impressed by any woman that follows a male dominated sport and can speak intelligently about it. As I said, my wife knows a lot about football and she is actually more vocal at game than I am at times. But it is what I love about her. Wow, I can't believe I made that mistake, I guess I am a buckaroo.

Have to say, marrying a woman who loves sports is a great move. My wife and I met because of the Colorado Avalanche, and that has obviously meant that it's the team that will remain the closest to my heart. It doesn't stop at hockey, though, as we both love when fall comes around and College Football starts up. She likes Wyoming too, though she's a Hawaii graduate, so that'll be interesting now that we start playing each other again.

It's awesome to have somebody to always be able to talk stats, plays, or whatever with. It's a blessing in so many ways to share an interest like that. She's taught me a ton about baseball too, as that was her dad's main sport (and one that remained a mystery to me until we met), though I can't say we follow it even remotely at the same level as hockey and college football.

Anyway, yay College Football. Boo women who hate sports. :P
