Smith getting a much needed break [Gagliardi]

It sounds like Smith was more beat-up (both physically & mentally) than I thought. Maybe he is too hard on himself mentally because he was concentrating so hard on football that he let the academics slide. It was very obvious the last two or three games something was not the same as it was earlier in the season, and the thumb problem was evidently a major part of that. He is such a competitor, that if something is wrong on the football side, then his academics suffer.

I like his dedication, but if he lets his studies fall to far, or lets his health get bad, he won't be able to play for any one of a multitude of reasons. That said, I'm glad we have such a hard worker leading the team.

His "academics sliding" shouldn't be an excuse... Really. He was still a freshman/sophomore the classes aren't that hard.

But if you looked at what Greg Brandon said, 65% this year 68% JR year and 70% SR year. Umm.... NFL???????

My friend and I were at the Weber St.-Wyo game this last season, and as Weber got the lead I told my friend "what a way to start your D1 college career with a last minute comeback game winning drive".
Then he led them down the field, hit Herron in the corner for the game winner. After that we started discussing, if, at the end of his career at UW that is "just another" win, instead of a highlight, he will end up being in the NFL.

After watching him more and more last season, I think he will be a better college QB and NFL "prospect" than Alex Smith from the Utard Utes.

Calling this out, B. Smith goes #1 in the dradt in a couple years after he wins the Rose Bowl AND National Championship!

Maybe he's got the cat scratch fever....????

"They give me cat scratch fever. Cat scratch fever."

I returned to the USA. And all over the places I went I saw that cat scratch fever....

"... Now that I think about it, I don’t really think I ever get any mental rest"

I really don't think this is a good thing.

I think he's more Tim Tebow than Ben Rothlesburger.
