Either way, wish those two seniors play hard and make it to the next level. I hope Smith returns, mainly because I just got a new Smith jersey for Christmas.
This is McElwain's second year.....Rams actually really struggled in year #1 trying to implement his system, much like I think Wyoming may.BeaverPoke said:This is why I think Bohl could succeed here.
Let's say, hypothetically, our biggest fear about him not being able to recruit FBS, MWC talent IS true.
Well to start, he will have some talent to work with left over from DC.
Everyone knows that he is a much better COACH, and could have some good success right away. I'm not saying MWC champs or anything, but an 8 win season, similar to CSU's this year. If we can have some good success right away, Bohl will be able to recruit better kids, as they want to play for a winner.
Basically, if he can't recruit the kids we need, he can hide that by winning right away then by default, getting commitments out of better kids simply by us winning.
But then again, if he CAN recruit, and coach, then, Wyo should be REALLY good.

I see what you're trying to say BP, but sorry....that's the brown and gold shades talking right there. UW has a ways to go at various positions. I watched those Fresno State/Boise State/Utah State games...each one made Wyoming look FCS-caliber. The talent is not there just yet. It will take Bohl a few recruiting classes to get nasty and in peoples face effectively.BeaverPoke said:I don't doubt we will struggle, especially with our schedule, but the difference is, we have so much more talent on the team, even if Brett leaves, than CSU had after they fired McElwain.
Then again, CSU has been able to get some pretty big O-Lines throughout the past 5 or so years, and we haven't had any, so our talent might be negated by a weak O-Line.
You mean the Boise who looked FCS caliber tonight? Coaching means a lot.... They have a team of talented players who looked like a junior high team tonight....J-Rod said:I see what you're trying to say BP, but sorry....that's the brown and gold shades talking right there. Boise was definitely reeling tonight from the dreaded "interim coaching staff". Always brings a sure loss....but those two fumble returns doomed them. Close game otherwise.ItSucksToBeACSURam said:You mean the Boise who looked FCS caliber tonight? Coaching means a lot.... Again, think that's a bit of homerism. Better? Probably...but its hardly by a ton. Comparing turds.BeaverPoke said:So you really think the CSU team Fairchild had in his last season had more talent than this team last year?
How... They had gone like 3-9 for 3 straight years at that point.
CSU probably has more talent than us NOW, but when McElwain was hired compared to when Bohl was hired, UW had more talent. ESPECIALLY if Brett comes back for his senior year, the comparison won't even be close.

Wyoming went 4-8 in 2012, 5-7 in 2013. That isn't "much better" off than they are. Without Smith only God knows where Wyoming would be right now.BeaverPoke said:Look at those stats J-Rod, that isn't homerism, the fact is we are much better off than they were.
