Any chance we can steal Wichita State for basketball?
Apparently they are considering restarting football at the FBS level. If so they would be a great addition but that would take a few years.

Houston should be #1 target

Rice and UTEP we need to think about. SMU should be that tier. Tulane as well

Gonzaga should headline a group of non football members. Candidates should include Wichita st, creighton, Denver, long beach st, Pepperdine, San Francisco

The biggest thing expansion should do for mw is be the first conference to do a 4 or 8 team playoff

Some folks seem to think getting Rice would be a coup, since they're among one of the best academic universities in the world and would boost the Mountain West's academic reputation.

I think UTEP wants out of CUSA just to get closer to conference members.

Gonzaga will never leave the WCC, it's a religious affiliated conference, thus, Gonzaga is a Catholic school.

The "off season" for Wyoming football fans, appears to officially be here.

Hawaii was a way worse addition than SJSU IMO. I hate playing that game, may as well play on the moon.

Creighton is not leaving the Big East and Gonzaga, Pepperdine and USF are not leaving the WCC. The MWC has no good reason to add basketball-only members, especially if it's adding two more full-fledged ones.

Football- 4 divisions of 5 teams. 16 team playoff. 4 team toilet bowl into consolation

Each conference team plays their 4 division games and 4 rotating cross division match ups. no conference member can play a 1AA teams and will then try to schedule 3 p5 programs. 11 game schedule

Houston/Tulane/Memphis/SMU/Rice
New Mex/Wyo/csu/Air Force/UTEP
BYU/Boise st/UNLV/Nevada/Ut st
Sdsu/Fresno/Hawaii/sjsu/Portland st

Basketball/ 32 team 2 location (Hawaii/Vegas) tourney

Wyo/csu/Den/Air Force
Memphis/Houston/Tulane/rice
Creighton/Wichita St/Indian st/SMU
New Mexico/Utes/UNLV/Nevada
Byu/Boise/Gonzaga/Utah state
Loyola M/sdsu/Pepperdine/long beach
Fresno/sjsu/San Francisco/Santa Clara
Hawaii/Alaska/Portland st/Seattle U

It's not all about what schools have been. It's their potential when given a bump. Expanding the conference to the Dallas, Houston, New Orleans, Memphis, Los Angeles, San Francisco Bay Area, Portland, Seattle markets could be a great thing is why you risk doubling. I think doubling is safe for those football only schools because the tourney seeds would be sure to double.

Wyoming would be in a great spot to have a chance at a top 8 seed (Division winner) in the 32 team bracket every year.

You are on glue.

I'm going to disagree with you. Hawaii not only makes a great away trip! Which is a great excuse for a vacation around attending an away game. But also it would also give Wyoming an extra home game = extra $$$. Apparently Tom Burman didn't realize that when asked about it and did not plan on scheduling an extra home game. His loss IMO

Plan B

Plan A is that the only schools you target are BYU, maybe Houston and wait for the breakup of the big 12 by doing anything possible to get Texas

Texas will be the driver of whatever change happens next with conferences. Texas does not like Baylor and SMU not only being able to be better than them much less being better.

BYU/Texas/army/Navy
Wyo/csu/AFA/new Mexico
Boise/Utah st/UNLV/NEVADA
Sdsu/Fresno/sjsu/Fresno

I understand it. Don't necessarily for one second believe it would happen in the next thousand years but he is saying Texas doesn't like being second best to other schools let alone schools in Texas so they jump ship and create a super conference with the Mountain West and remainder of Independents.
