Recruiting Needs - Priorities

Looks like the O-line is solid so far, and I like our QB verbal. I also think we are set at RB, and the DB spot.

I would say, in order, our priorities left are:

1. Punter
2. D Line / D End
3. WR
4. Linebacker

What do you think Wyonation?

I'm thinking D-line and line backer are the highest need areas, along with punter. Big shoes to fill at wideout, but I think that is always an easier slot to fill.

Oh, and one thing I liked with this recruiting season? We have actually given offers to 4-star guys (like D.J. Johnson and Chester Graves, 4 star DEs (Graves is still uncommitted)). Sure we haven't been getting any, but I can't recall that it's something we've been doing before.

Punter is a big need. I'd like to see more DEs and DLs. Honestly it seems like we're really well set up for success. There're promising young guys at every position.

Also wonder if we actually have a chance at this guy: http://247sports.com/player/harrison-van-dyne-46037087

Seems like it'd be a solid replacement for Maulhardt.

Who do people think we're decently "in" on?
Seems to me Vokolek is probably choosing between us and Minnesota given how our offers were the ones he highlighted.
Stonehouse seems to be leaning Cal, but has at least given us attention.
Gersonde had two visits to Michigan, but don't think they ever offered, which I think might mean we're a favorite?
The giant TE we offered (Strom) apparently committed to play basketball at UC Davis (which is a bummer).
Jacob Ross is this year's top Wyoming player, so hopefully we have a chance there, right?
Mitch Lewis seems like he's hoping for Penn State or Iowa - but if those fall through, we've probably got a decent chance (https://edgytim.rivals.com/news/te-lewis-preps-for-january-visits).

So... who else?

I like Van Dyne. We do have Parker Dumas on the roster...who is listed at 6'5" 200lbs. He has mentioned by Bohl as having a good scrimmage not to long ago.

Rumor has it Wyoming has a good shot at landing a stud DE out of Sacramento by the name of Victor Jones. He is the teammate of LB commit Ryan Gaoloai-Faupula. They both visited in September. Jones is announcing his decision tonight. This would a a huge get if he commits to the Pokes. I think we also have a shot as some other good looking DE's among other players.

At this point, I think we are building depth more than getting guys to fill holes right away.

Go Pokes!!

He is announcing his school tonight. He looks like a good player. Probably translates to a DE at the college level but he looks good.

How has this Jacob Ross flown so far under the radar? Kid looks legit. How has Bohl and Co. not locked him down?
He looks decent. Tall.

For next year one kid I'd like to see get a look is Garrett Worden from Laramie. Check out highlights https://www.hudl.com/video/3/5035739/5831ce7cdfd8b91244c239cc

He's violent, big and pretty fast.

Probably a walk-on candidate (and a good one at that). The other Laramie kid that should get a look is their WR - Connor Beeston (sp). Some sportswriter mentioned he has the best hands in the state - I think I remember reading in the CST or somewhere.

I guess there is a JC RB that is on the radar as well...that is of the Brian Hill mold (size, speed, etc.). Not that it is a secret, but I kind of hate putting names out there for our douchebag competitors to see.

Probably walk-on, but who knows? Who are the best kids from Wyoming in the 2018 signing class?

Didn't Worden's dad play for the Cowboys?

Quite a few people are after him. I looked at his highlight reel, and honestly, he looked pretty slow, especially in terms of changing direction. But it's not like anybody we find will be like Hill either.

Do we believe the coaching staff isn't convinced Evans, Gardner, Green, Lomanto, and Valladay won't be able to carry (literally) the load next season? Who is the JC RB they're looking at?

He's listed here: http://wyoming.247sports.com/Season/2017-Football/Offers

Milo Hall and Overstreet, too. If they are going after a JC RB then that would lead to believe there is a need there. Or maybe they just want to keep a certain number of RBs on the roster and not screw up the class structure too bad?
