Take a gander at his highlight tape: http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=9tXXKZeIbiI" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Considering the production we had on offense this year, I'd say he would be a HUGE commit. He is exactly the type of athlete we need if we plan on beating SDSU, UNLV, UNM on a consistent basis.

Generally agree with this, but I haven't really seen any extreme hype on here regarding him. On paper, this is definitely the type of recruit we should be pursuing. Offers from MWC/MVC (USU/Drake) type of schools, regional, maybe a little bit physically underdeveloped (only 170 lbs), but with decent length and offensive game.

I hope we land him, but I don't think it solves our fundamental issue for 13-14, and that is lack of offensive production from the perimeter. Hankerson should help, but we really need a perimeter shooter to spread the floor and like you say, it's hard to count on a freshman (either Trey Washington or a spring signee like potentially Muhammad) to fill that role. I was kind of hoping for a JC perimeter player to add instant punch, but if we can land a quality HS prospect in the spring that is ok too.

Watching a few videos about him they are saying he will be inside the top 150 for the 2013 class, so it would be a very good pickup for us. He looks to be a very good shooter with good long range and a good mid range jump shot. He is currently hitting 50% from three this year and is scoring at a high clip so I think if we add him in next year we won't be as bad as some people think. Nance showed he can score consistently down low with his last 7 games or so when he was routinely scoring 17 plus, Cook should be a good role player and get lots of boards with his effort, much the same style of a Hornung. Hankerson will be the best player and he can shoot the ball very well from the perimeter, we have at least two point guards who can play in Riley and Josh and possibly three if Trey steps up. Vernon should be able to help at least some right away, and McManamen and Haldorson should add some strength and be decent contributers. Sobey can obviously shoot the three very well as he hit 42% this season so we have more offensive capability in this team than everyone seems to think. Also with Riley and Josh at the point we will actually run an offense instead of the crap when Gilmore had the ball so I think we will be a improved team next year. I would predict somewhere in the 7-9 range for conference wins and if everything goes perfect maybe ten, and probably a third straight 20 win season depending on the schedule strength.

It appears to me that most are missing the hidden fact that our experienced depth on this team is increasing. Lack of experienced depth was probably the one thing that hurt us more than anything this last season. I understand we don't have any MVP's, FOY's, or NOY's returning next year, but we might by the end of next season.

Agreed.
If we land Muhammad then we have a probable starting lineup of...
Grabau, Adams, Hankerson, Nance, Cooke
Then we have back ups of...
Trey Washington, Sobey, Muhammad, McManamen, Bentz (that's a shit ton of guards, talk about depth.) and Vernon, Haldorson, Herndon, and Sellers. (decent amount of bigs, but still not quite what we want.)

But who knows if Haldorson and Vernon are gonna be able to play legit next season or if they are gonna still need to improve before they make an immediate impact.

I think what is gonna be the biggest sign of whether we can compete in the MWC next season is if we can win our OOC games without our starting 5 playing 35 minutes a game.
Can we have Vernon, McManamen, Haldorson, Washington and Sobey and Muhammad playing decent minutes and still win games?

I don't think there's any way Grabau starts next year. If he does, we are in trouble.

1-3: Washington, Adams, Hankerson

Adding Muhammad would/could change that. I think Grabau would be solid off the bench, he just can't defend or shoot well enough to start again.

I get that people don't think Grabau is all that good, I was one of them at the beginning of the season. But just thinking about the way he controls the game and runs the offense I think he will be starting. He can shoot the 3 pretty nicely and remains calm and has a surprising amount of hustle.
People wanna knock Grabau down, but he is pretty damn good. And he has been scoring more and more lately.
I think we will all see that even though Gilmore was a scoring machine at points, he was a problem in the offense. He turned into a ball hog. People say that he was the only reason we stayed in games, but he is also the reason he kept us out of games.
He would not pass the ball down low to an open Nance or Washington, and would not pass the ball to an open Adams or Grabau for a 3.
Grabau holds the team together, and there is no way that Washington comes in and takes Grabau starting spot.

Grabau will start next year. Shyatt is already on record as saying that Grabau is the future point guard for this program. Could things change? They could but I don't really see anyone that is coming in that would be able to start over him. Grabau will be a junior and the only person that could replace him at the point guard spot would be Washington and I don't see Washington coming in as a freshman being an impact player. Grabau has proven he can shoot the 3 and he handles the ball well with his assist to turnover ratio. He improved a lot from his freshman to sophomore year and I expect him to do that again this off season.
Will it be good enough to finish in the top 4 or 5 of the conference next year? Who knows but that is who Shyatt said will be point so we have to live with it and hope it works out.

Pretty much agree with everything that Seattle said.

Grabau will keep things calm and collected while Adams and Hankerson get to go score from the outside in.
If Adams improves from Freshman to sophomore year like Grabau did, then we are gonna have a a couple bad asses on our team including Nance, Hankerson, and Adams.

I feel that they will come in more confident and not as stressed as they were at the end of the season this year. Things went downhill after the Luke incident, then Gilmore trying to do too much. And my guess is that they were sick of playing with Gilmore.

Agree with others that Trey Washington won't come in and take Grabau's spot. He didn't even really the point full time in HS (played SG alot, kind of like Adams at Chap) and it's tough for a true freshman to come in and start (although we have seen true freshman PG's at UW several times in recent memory with McMillan, Straight, and Ewing).

I also think Grabau and Adams will probably start next year, but I agree with ProudWYOAlum in that it indicates we are in trouble. Each players adds some positives, but IMO shouldn't be playing together for large stretches. I think it is difficult to compete with two undersized guards that are challenged offensively. You could get by with one or the other. A player like Grabau that distributes the ball and initiates the offense that can hit an open look if the defense rotates off of him or a player like Adams that can draw the top perimeter defensive assignment and occasionally get to the basket (didn't see a lot of that from Adams this year, but I think he is capable of it). However, with both on the floor there just aren't enough weapons that makes the defense adjust.

That becomes even more of an issue if Cooke is our starter down low (which I also think will happen). Cooke is great on the glass and can certainly finish, but isn't going to be an offensive player that makes the defense adjust.

All 3 have excellent roles on the right team, but you can't have that many guys that struggle to generate offense playing at the same time, just makes us too easy to defend. That's what I was hoping Shyatt would address in the spring, but it doesn't appear that is the case now.

I think the Pokes can still be a very solid defensive team as Cooke becomes more experienced his length and athleticism should make him an excellent help defender and Hankerson's size on the perimeter will really be a boost to our defense. Adams was already tough on D as a freshman, he should be a serious pest next year. I just think we will be very limited offensively, again, barring a surprise spring addition.

Anyone heard any dirt around campus on how Mr. Muhammad's trip is going?

Nope. But I am sure as soon as he leaves someone at Gowyogo will have an article about it.
About how he "enjoyed it and likes Laramie".
Hopefully he commits ASAP.

he is actually sitting behind me in a class right now... should i buy him lunch ;)
Give him a pair of brown and gold glasses and cup or our koolaid. Then get him a pen and let him sign his letter and get him on board!

Looked to me like they were throwing out all the stops for recruiting, when I saw him they were taking him to lunch with Hankerson, Duncan, little Shyatt, and Nance was there as well.

GOOD!!! Lock him down

He tweeted out that he was getting a ton of Wyoming followers today. Hopefully he will see the fan support too!

Nance is the ultimate team guy and is the perfect host! Maybe Brandon Ewing can talk to him too!

From what I saw it looked like his host was Hankerson today.

I think Hankerson is gonna be a good ambassador. Actually I think he already is.
Every game at the AA he is jumpin around and getting pumped up on the sideline and seems like a good kid.
Can not wait for him to be in those games next season.

Saw a ton of action on twitter today... Muhammad was retweeting all the WYO fans tweets. Nance was touting him on twitter and Muhammad seemed to be loving it.

Good to see WYO is recruiting guys we are interested in and following like big time programs do!

Also heard Shyatt mention there is a possibility a player who's already graduated who has one year left could transfer in and be that last scholarship.

Should be an interesting month.
