Rank the Top 5 UW QBs All Time

2000-2002 we played from behind always...hence the large passing numbers and for that matter massive interception count. Casey's senior year (2003) was a good one but his numbers are largely a function of getting 4 straight years to learn/play. He has the benefit of volume and a soft spot for everyone but he is not top 5. Neither is Welniak if I am honest...but HE was a GAMER.

Frankly, I don't know how Casey Bramlet isn't to be considered top 5 or so. His career numbers are top 1 at Wyoming although Brett Smith had the best single season. He was drafted into the NFL. Therefore, there can be no objective argument that he didn't either have: (i) talent or (ii) numbers; therefore, any argument that Casey Bramlet is not one of the best QBs to come through Wyoming is pure subjective bias.

List of Wyoming quarterbacks drafted into the NFL prior to the 2018 NFL draft:
1) Casey Bramlet
....

....
...
Some guys from the 50s and 60s when the draft was expanded (Rick Egloff and Jim Walden)

Brett took bad advice. He clearly thought that he would be drafted and was told this by family and the draft advisory board. Also, recall he had serious concussion issues that probably went into his decision to be paid to play instead of risking an injury for no pay. Alvester bounced around on practice squads and got paid a decent amount to do so (more than his entry level salary would be with a communication degree, business, criminal justice, or kinesiology degree that many students get).

Yeah, I'm not sure why you'd punish somebody because he was forced into situations where he HAD to throw it? Yeah, that'll inflate your yards, but everybody also knows exactly what is coming. Not exactly a recipe for easy success.

I know a lot of people want to put the bramlets in the top 5 because of them being wyoming boys, but they should not crack the top five. Josh Allen, Josh Wallwork, Brett Smith, Randy Welniak, Joe Hughes, Craig Burnett were all better. Casey is probably around 7 or 8, but Corey doesn't crack the top 10. Tom Corontzos, Casey Bramlet, Jay Stoner are in the second 5.

Disagree. Casey Bramlet had 3 seasons of 3000+ passing yards. He has a lead of almost 1000 yards in career passing in Wyoming history. He had a cannon for an arm and was drafted in the 7th round. Had the defense not been garbage, he would have had quite a few more wins. Probably the most physically talented quarterback that Wyoming has had other than Josh Allen.

Any mention of Jay Stoner near the top 10 makes me shake my head. The only thing he had going for him is that he got a ton of starts ("we want Swanson").

I'm with you on Casey Bramlet, he was a total stud stuck on a team with a horrid defense. In the early 2000's we were known as Wide Receiver-U, guys like Jovon Bouknight, Scotty Vines, Wendell Montgomery, Ryan McGuffey and Malcom Floyd all had great success because of Bramlet's play at QB. The younger Bramlet, wow, I will never forget that TCU game.

The whole Wide Receiver-U dates back further to the early 1990s.
Shawn Wiggins kind of started it off going off for over 1000 yards and 6 TD receiving in 1990. But then Ryan Yarborough broke the NCAA record for most career receiving yards and then right after him came Marcus Harris who broke Yarborough's record. As far as Wyoming WRs go, Floyd certainly had the best pro career of them all.
My top 5 list of all-time Cowboy QB would be:

1. Josh Wallwork
2. Randy Welniak
3. Tom Corontzos
4. Craig Burnett

5a. Brett Smith
5b. Josh Allen
5c. ACS
If Josh has an incredible season this year he would vault to #1 on my list, one nice season doesn't make a career.
