Quarterback's Not Sliding

I can 100% confirm that the quarterbacks are explicitly told NOT to slide and are derided if they do. This "cowboy tough" bull crap got Josh Allen hurt for the season and threatens everyone of them that takes the field.

So many top level D1 programs encourage and even teach their QB's how to slide. It is ridiculous that these coaches have mandated this and should be held accountable for it. Coach Bohl and Vigen should own up to this and take responsibility for Josh's injury. It's their mandate that got him hurt, and they need to change their philosophy.

Really pisses me off!!! I've had it with this "cowboy tough" bull***t!!! Get players in here that can just flat out play football. Tough in football is assumed...it's football for cripes sake. Stop trying to take this crap to another level to try and establish yourselves and somehow set yourself apart from other coaches or programs...Bohl!!!

If the QBs are going to run the ball, they should wear the same shoulder pads that the RBs wear. Those pads the QBs wear don't have any protection for the collar bone (not much for the shoulder either).

If thats true, that is unacceptible. Gags or Holmgren should ask about it or someone should ask on a call-in show(do they still have that). I agree the Cowboy Tough mantra is kinda old.

I'm calling bull shit. I don't believe for two seconds that the most valuable player on your offensive unit is encouraged to take unnecessary risk of injury by instructing them to not slide.

Thank you......I agree with the BS part.

What exactly do you base this belief on? Have you been at practice and seen the coaches instructing the QBs to slide?

We have had two random posters state that the coaches instruct the QBs not to slide. While this rumor/evidence is flimsy at best, I have seen nothing to dispute this claim. I agree that someone in the media should directly ask Bohl the question.

As to my personal opinion, I don't believe that a QB should be instructed to always slide or to never slide. There are instances where sliding is prudent and instances where sliding is not prudent.

Believe it's bull shit all you want. I said 100% confirmed. It's a fact.I won't tell you how I know, I just know. And you can believe it or not, continue to deny it could ever be true. But, it is. Let's just say I'm at field level.

IMO, it is Bohl's team. He can coach the way he wants. He's been successful coaching his style whether that includes having his QB's slide or not.

Just my :twocents:

If true, and I would like to have concrete evidence that it is true, then the entire staff needs to be fired at season's end.

If it is not true, which I still suspect, then a lot of people owe Bohl an apology and be publicly flogged.

Well, this is the third poster that has said as much. So maybe there is some validity to it.

3rd poster or same poster with 3 different handles? Not accusing or anything, but if this is true, it is a pretty big deal, IMO. It is not a rumor that should be taken lightly nor wielded lightly. In fact, I'd argue that, if not true, it is damn near libel.

This is 100% true.

I don't believe this for one second. BULLSHIT.
It is how Kirk was hurt and it is the end of Josh's year! It is the O Coordinator that is pushing it! I too can confirm that it is true. Players are berated if they choose to slide.

Nothing anyone could post in this thread would make me believe it I just do not buy that they are willing to risk injury to the most important position in the game for a weak ass moniker.

If I heard it from a player or coach I might but otherwise I don't buy it at all.

I'm in the same boat. I need some pretty concrete evidence. I'm not calling anyone liars, but it is a big enough deal, IMO, that the staff should be fired if it were true. Because it is such a big deal to me, I don't want to fly off the handle unless I'm very certain of all the information.

Hopefully the media or someone will seek an answer for this.

Ditto. Second hand or third hand rumors are not enough for me. If jarhead confirmed it, or someone else that we KNOW has direct connections to the team, then I would be in agreement. Short of that though...

Like SlowHand? Not sure who he is but he definately has connections to the team and is right the vast majority of the time.

Word of mouth & I heard it through the grapevine is not worthy of something so significant. Either way doesn't matter because no coach or player is going to come tell us so it's basically :deadhorse1:
