I agree. We won’t see him and we probably shouldn’t, but the lack of mobility under pressure and constant staring down of receivers is frustrating to watch. The difference that Sims made with his ability to move in that game was apparent, albeit he’s more of a running qb. It’s too bad he was injured. The ability of our staff to develop a qb has me concerned as well, and that’s not new with just Sawvel.I do think Drube is the most physically gifted QB to come out of a Wyoming high school in a very long time. But there are countless physically talented football players that flame out every single year in college football.
Normally, I'd say we have to trust the coaches since they are the ones that are seeing him day in and day out in practice. They should know better than anyone else whether he is ready to actually contribute on the field or not. However, this staff has proven themselves terrible at judging talent, especially at the QB position.
All that being said, I think there is a very low chance we see Drube this year. If Kaden goes down with an injury, I fully suspect Gage Brooks will be trotted out there.
