QB offers

It looks like UW has offered two D2 QB’s and one FCS.

Jay Kastantin from Assumption D2

Elijah Holmes from Wingate D2

Tyler Hughes from William & Mary FCS #22 in total yards (#42 passing)

247Sports is predicting that Tyler Hughes will be signed. Of the three, Hughes looks the best from the highlights and game snippets I can find. Hughes hadn’t played much until last season where he put up some decent numbers. He is definitely a solid threat to run with the ball and only threw 3 interceptions in over 300 pass attempts while completing 66%. I also didn’t find any indication he has had knee issues. Listed at 6’ 200 lbs.

I thought I read Sims knee was not going to be ready for 2026. It was his 3rd major knee injury. I suspect he may be done.
Well Landon Sims doesn’t think he is done. When asked about making a third comeback he stated ‘Absolutely, 100%…without a doubt.” Further stating, ‘I fully expect to be ready for the season next year.’

Dude has 2 years of eligibility and can qualify for a medical redshirt if he misses next year. He isn’t done playing college football. He is a competitor; that part is clear when you watch him.

Wish we could have seen him play all season and stay healthy.

Wish the best for him regardless. He had obvious skills so desperately needed in this program.

Sims has had a run of bad luck with injuries. If he is able to play and avoid further injury , he would be my choice as starter heading into spring practices. But he is unlikely to be healthy enough this year if ever. Too bad, I really liked what I saw when he had a few plays.

Sims seemed like the best QB last season . Too bad sawvel was too retarded to see it
It seemed pretty clear that Jovon recognized it right away because Sims became the guy as soon as Jovon became OC. Unfortunately, he got injured shortly thereafter.

There are certain QBs that have the 'it' factor that a team is going to fight tooth and nail for because those QBs are going to put everything on the line for their teammates and are willing to take that big hit for the first down (even if it isn't the best decision). We have been lucky to have had a few over the years: Josh Allen, Andrew Peasley and it appears Landon Sims...and to a lesser extent Brett Smith and Sean Chambers.

Sawvel stated that there will be an open competition for starting QB in the spring. Seems it would be a competition between Hughes and Drube. Sims won’t be able to practice in the spring and I don’t think Hasselbeck is enrolling early (maybe he is).

I was not impressed by Drube. I know he is a Wyoming kid but we should not be blinded that he was not ready to play at this level yet.
