When the previous 11yrs up to 2011 gives us an overall record of 45-85... I would say an 8-5 season with a fresh QB is a great season. We've spent the last decade digging out of a hole as a program from the early 2Ks, that means any success is great! Everyone thought that DCs first year at 7-6 was a great year. That's because we're the program climbing up out of the mire of our recent past. We are not a top program like Texas where 8-5 seasons are a disappointment.
How about Boise State? Are they a "top program like Texas"?
You got me all wrong. What I stated was that we are not a top program "YET". I don't remember who said it on here but they had it right in saying, "Rome wasn't built in a day." You can't just expect us to go from the lowest of lows to the highest of highs within a couple of years. And if you do, you are simply dillusional.
And yes Boise has been a top program for some time. 10-3 was a disappointment for them last year. But Boise is also young in history and has never had a 5-29 shamble with a coach that they had to make right.
Didn't Utah State just do this under Gary Andersen?
There are plenty of other examples too. I guess we need at least 20 years.
Umm, no. Not only did it take Anderson a few year to have one good season, but the coach before him really started the whole turnaround at USU with better recruiting. But they fired him for lack of wins and Anderson got it done three or four years later. Also USU going 11-2 in the Dismantled WAC last year is nothing to be proud of. That's the equiv of WYO going 8-5 a few years back. I'm still curious as to how they finish this year. Are they a one hit wonder. Have they really made it, as you say? I guess we'll see. Remember SJSU was 11-2 last year as well, and look how they're playing?
