Our safeties bite on play action becuse they have to come up and help stop the run because Schober/Hendricks can't be on 2 ends of the field at the same time.marcuswyo said:Our D line is the same size as Airforce (maybe/probably even bigger) I don't think that is the reason why we can't get to the qb. I think it is our unwillingness to blitz more than 4 players. Our defensive play calling has been vanilla at best. We do have speed on our defense but we havent used it and our safeties are the worst at defending the play action ( you would figure the coaches could fix that but they haven't). We didn't get a ton of pressure last year on opposing qb's either. Fletcher was good, Unreing & Givens were solid but we still ranked near the bottom in the league in sacks.

It's obvious you have something personal going on with this guy or his family. To single him out when the entire front 7 was pushed off the ball and/or out of position all night is about the most laugable post of the year. Take your vendetta elsewhere. Oh, we don't need to read about the famous athletes you associate with or have friends who know famous players. We're already very impressed.

Damn straight he's tired, never signed on to be a defensive end, or linebacker.
Again, when your top tackler is a safety.. you suck.

Just been thinking that myself. Schober and Hendricks are both pretty good LBs (granted, it falls off from there, but still), and our secondary is supposed to be pretty deep. Plus in the 4-2-5, the safeties play up anyways, so that they can either cover recievers or be blitzed to get into the back field. The only problem being the weakness on the D-line. About the only player who has been consistently doing well, is Knapton.kansasCowboy said:I honestly think we should try a 4-2-5 hybrid type D. Put in two more DB's for speed (for blitzing and coverage) The two LB's should be Hendricks and Shober (All they would have to do is plug the middle or stop the run's to the outside. Overall it would bring better pass coverage because we wouldn't have a slow LB on a WR and we could blitz from many different angles.

Never really been partial to the 3 down linemen idea though. You almost always have to blitz a linebacker just so that the D-line isn't overwhelmed. With a 4 man rush (with a good/decent front at least), you can usually force the QB out of the pocket and open to some hits by LBs or DBs that are nearby (scheme depending). Plus, with so many teams using the spread or just throwing in the shotgun formation more and more, the 4-2-5 is about the best counter to it. And with he players we currently have, I wonder how much of a difference it could have made this year.kansasCowboy said:fromolwyoming said:Just been thinking that myself. What you could do with that is go 3-3-5 and have Knapton and hendricks in the middle and put Schober at the Bandit spot as an LB/DE.
