Power rankings, polls and such will be coming out periodically throughout the day, so I say we dedicate a thread to it. Here is the first one ESPN's power rankings... Wyoming makes their first appearance in the "votes section" We are tied with CU for 37th, ill give us the tie breaker and say 37th... Keep winning, and we will keep moving up

http://espn.go.com/mens-college-basketball/powerrankings/_/season/2013/week/6" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Keep in mind, this is power rankings, so ESPN believes we are the 37th best team in the country

• Wyoming is right there with Canisius for most surprising team of the first month. The Cowboys' two quality wins against Colorado and at Illinois State are good enough to warrant staying power in the Mountain West. I'm not ready to project an NCAA bid, but this Wyoming team will rack up enough wins to be at least NIT worthy.

• Every MWC team is over .500. That's more significant than the Big East because the MWC can't play mostly home games. This league has to go on the road quite a bit and in a number of cases without a return.

That is what Andy Katz had to say in his Monday Musings blog... Katz really likes our team

The AP Poll

Others receiving votes: Kentucky 186, Virginia Tech 170, Pittsburgh 164, Oregon 155, Alabama 96, Connecticut 92, Baylor 49, Colorado 44, Boise State 22, Butler 18, Maryland 9, Temple 9, Miami (FL) 7, Wyoming 5, Colorado State 5, Murray State 4, LSU 1, Marquette 1

It's rather insulting that Colorado and Boise are both still getting that amount of votes. Granted that is the AP Pool. Coaches Poll on the other hand.

Others receiving votes: Pittsburgh 89, Wichita State 47, Colorado 41, Oregon 40, Virginia Tech 38, Connecticut 38, Alabama 27, Baylor 18, Wyoming 9, Kansas State 8, Murray State 7, Butler 6, Miami (FL) 5, Ole Miss 5, Memphis 3, Colorado State 3, Boise State 2, Virginia Commonwealth 1

Makes a little more sense getting half as many votes as Baylor is a pretty big stride for us.

Those are last weeks polls the AP and Coaches have not been released yet, otherwise I would've posted them. Expect us to jump CU, Boise, and steal CSU's

i'm so excited i could pee

Haha I don't think we will crack the top 25. I did some lookin around at the teams ahead of us (34 in the coaches poll) and 5 teams in the 21-33 range lost. So I think we will be getting a lot of votes in the coaches and be #29.

Still awesome though! Then all we would need is to have about 5 more teams ahead of us lose in our off week to crack the top 25!

Of course, we still might make it in the poll today! lets hope

we lost a vote?!!?! tf?

That's BS! At least we gained some spots to #31, but still should be #29. we did nothing to lose votes, only gain votes!
That's the problem with having your big game in the middle of the week, once saturday comes around no one remembers...

...but gained 3 spots.

Was 34th last week with 9 votes, 31st this week with 8. Looks like someone gave their vote to someone already ahead of us...

It hurt us that Colorado got pounded so bad by Kansas. If Colorado would have had a better showing it would have helped us out.
We just need to keep winning.

Take care of buisiness against DU, Cal State whatever (too many to remember who we're playing), and SMU then we are most likely top 25.

If Wyoming wins their next two games which they should they will be 12-0 and I think they will slide into the top 25 before we play SMU. That gives them basically 3 weeks for teams in front of them to lose which will probably happen.
