It would be nice if any of these were over 185

I know that's what the weight room is for, and we will just have to wait til next year.
B-Poke, the more of your posts I read, the more I'm convinced you are just looking for anything to fault the current HC administration.

Very, very few DB's (safeties, and cornerbacks, just in case you're wondering what a DB is) come out of high school at or above 190 lbs. The average playing weight, across all classes, of most FBS corners is under 190 and the average for safeties is under 200. It's nothing for an incoming freshman to put on 10-20 lbs before Fall camp.

In short, the playing weight of these players is at or above the typical FBS DB recruit.

I swear, if you lose your virginity to two college cuties on a beach with crashing surf, you'll complain they weren't [INSERT SUPERMODELS NAMES HERE], despite the fact you have zero experience with losing your virginity OR supermodels.

Lol.

One of them weighs 175. C'mon man. That's not FBS size.

183 is average 175 is fine.

Oregon State has two CBs that are 175 lbs, with two more under 185 lbs.

Neat. Don't really care.

You cared about it prior to being shown facts that went against your opinion that these commits were undersized.

There's no fault in admitting when you're wrong. In fact, we'd respect that.

What a scrawny little fella. No way big enough for FBS.

Good thing Beav didn't recruit Watt!

I am kidding BTW

I think Bohl and company do a good job with recruiting and I absolutely love their sales pitch of Fiesta Bowl and such. So much better than the poor me WYO crap we've had (from AD on down).

I also am super stoked about Josh Boyd! Holy crap. A 6'3" safety with a 4.5 speed!!??? That is Kam Chancellor-like (obviously Kam is much bigger--230 I think). He should realistically be able to get to 195-200 without losing much on the speed size. If he evolves into a big hitter, he will be a feared safety in the MWC.

Also relevant to the discussion, here is a link to an article discussing what athletes can gain in 4 years of training. They can gain size and strength but not much on speed and vertical jump (they call it power). We must recruit speed because you can't train or coach for (much) better speed according to this article. I was also surprised at how little weight skill players and linemen gain (though they do gain). 3% increase from their original weight for linemen and 9% for skill players.

The thing that is concerning me a bit is a lot of our recruits don't have the 'stars' and offers from other schools. However, I watch their tapes and they look every bit as good as the big name recruits, but for some reason don't have the publicity. I love their speed and size, too.

I just hope that the staff has identified some good under-the-radar talent. I am pretty confident Bohl has got some talented kids to commit, but there's still a twinge of doubt in the back of the mind. Go, Pokes

Well to be fair, both Hill and Wingard were 2 star guys. Obviously there's plenty of examples of 2 star guys that have done nothing too though

Josh Boyd doesn't look 4.5 on his speed. Looks like a play maker and has instincts, just didn't look very fast at all. Maybe because he's so tall?

It seems we never get many players with an abundance of stars or other offers, yet we still get some really solid players. A large problem seems to be keeping them here. So many leave on their own before playing 4 years, which is what sort of set me off when I saw we cut Will, a contributor that didn't cost us a scholarship. Even Christensen, with all of his too many to list faults, was able to get good players to Wyoming. Keeping them here seems to be the trick.

Yeah, he didn't exactly break away on his kickoff return.

Yeah, for me, Shiloh Windsor is a good example. Good size, good speed, and seems to have good instincts for the ball. He needs better strength, but he can gain that. I think he is going to be a beast.

Just what is listed. I don't know enough about the teams he was playing to know their speed level?

Even if he is between 4.5 and 4.6 and can put some weight on, he should be pretty formidable safety in MWC play.

I just looked him up on Rivals, as he looks so thin in this pic. They listed him at 220 in high school. But more interesting, I saw that he received an offer from the Pokes and he decided on Central Michigan instead.

I looked up Glenn's class for that year after reading this. In the alternate reality where Watt was in the brown & gold he would have been a freshman with Josh Biezuns, Brian Hendricks, Gabe Knapton, and David Leonard. I forgot how well Joe Glenn recruited defense. Those are 3 of the best linebackers we've ever had in Laramie!

Wisconsin?

Watt committed to Central Michigan out of high school. He actually begun his career there as a TE and was later asked to move to offensive tackle. At that point, he left the school and joined the Wisconsin football team as a walk-on.

One or both of Halliburton or Boyd will grow enough to become linebackers. Both perfect candidates to redshirt if they don't need them to start right away

Wow. Learned something new. How did I not know this? Thanks
