Pokes fans are delusional

All this bullshit about Laramie and UW not being paradise, tough to recruit to, etc., pisses me off. Any of you ever played D1 football in the last 20 years? Tell me how much "free time" you have to go do other things in the community...no matter where that community is located.

It is like a bunch of you think the kids have every weekend off, every night off, and have all this free time. You don't get it, and you don't understand the day in a life of the D1 football player. Hence one of the reasons the NCAA started allowing universities to pay athletes extra $$ on the side.

Oh, and Denver is 2 hours away last time I drove that route. That is a typical commute-for-entertainment (pro sports, concerts, clubs, etc.) at a lot of other schools throughout the country. So if you really need it that style of "to-do", and you really have the time for it after your dedication to being a fully funded athlete, it is there for you.
+1 Well said.

Name two towns that would be better for UW to be in than Laramie?

The only one I can even think of would be Cheyenne.

Casper, Sheridan, Gillette, Cody, Jackson, Rock Springs, Evanston, etc., all share the same laxwyo "dead town" qualities. And so does Cheyenne really...but it is only 1 1/4 hours from Denver, so there is that.

Oh, take East Lansing, MI, off that list.

That's a nice and fun town.

Honestly, I was considering putting Ann Arbor on that list too. Nice university, but I was not impressed by the town at all.

Cincinnati might be the scariest university in the country.

UK is pretty damn nice. Princeton is amazing. Marshall is a shit hole.

Wyoming has as nicer campus than any of these except Princeton but all these places have a 1000 times more things to do than Laramie does. Laramie is a dump. Is UW the only university that resides in a dead town?

What is your definition of "dead town"? No strip clubs? No malls? If so, make the 40 minute commute to Cheyenne. Or the 60 minute commute to Fort Fart. Or the 2 hour commute to Denver. All three have that.

Pretty sure if you are a dedicated fully funded athlete, you don't have that much time on your hands to go trolling the Hunt Club anyway.
Judging by LAX's avatar and that bouncing booby sig I think he's probably into strip clubs!

The on'y two I could think of were Sheridan and maybe Lander. Sheridan- too isolated. Lander- too isolated and too many trashy people. Laramie's a good place for UW. Too far west and it would be another LDS school and anywhere else makes no sense.

Sheridan. Evanston. Casper. Cheyenne. Pine Bluffs. Big Piney. Afton. Alpine (hey all your entertainment needs are just 2 hours away in Idaho falls, ID after you brave treacherous roads)

Laramie is Farson with a university.

Maybe since these athletes don't have as much time it'd be nicer to have options a little closer than 2 hour drive to Denver. I sure go love driving 50 minutes to Cheyenne in order to try on shoes

Agreed! And for the record, I love Sheridan, it is beautiful. As is Cody, Lander, Jackson, not to mention a few others. But they are no better equipped for recruiting (and retaining) a D1 athlete than Laramie is.

Cody would be interesting. Nice downtown area and at the doorsteps of Yellowstone. It has an airport.

Out-of-state enrollment would probably suffer. Still, I like Cody more than Laramie.

WHAT?

Alright, who hacked your account? Or are you hammered drunk? You can't possibly believe that Sheridan, Evanston, Pine Bluffs, Big Piney, Afton, Alpine has more to offer than Laramie. And Casper and Cheyenne don't have much more, unless you are into the Green Door and 1/2 empty malls.

Lander is nice and centrally located, but not close to an interstate. Jackson is nice and has an airport....so maybe Jackson. But that would some expensive room and board. Laramie is the best choice IMO.

Though I like other towns in WYO better than Laramie, it is probably the best location for the University. The draw from CO for both alumni and students is the main advantage Laramie has. Cheyenne could have been an option, too, I guess.

Cheyenne is poop hole compared to Laramie.

Cheyenne feels like a mid-western town more than Wyoming. Don't feel like i'm in Wyoming when I'm in Cheyenne.

This thread may contain the funniest stuff I've ever seen online.

Afton?

"You'll love it here, son. Hell, it ain't but a 40 mile drive for a decent cup of coffee. And...hold on to your hair extensions...if your coach lets you, you can visit the flesh pots of Smoot any time you want."

My daddy's from Afton. Good ole Afton.

I may have used exaggeration to prove my point at how sucky Laramie is. Green River provides about the same level of services as Laramie does and the math about works if you throw a 20k university into it.

If the ole, drive to Denver for all your needs is your mantra, why wouldn't you just go to CSU or Boulder or DU?

I'm not saying you can't recruit to Laramie, but some growth in Laramie wouldn't fucking hurt. Yeah yeah, I know. But laramie has grown! A chili's and a few residential neighborhoods doesn't count. We need some substantial growth

"A lot of folks around here like Heggs Grillin' Barn for a burger or you can drive up to Thayne to hit up Juan's House of Tacos"

Both are delicious, by the way.

After reading this dope's clearly designed to bait comments...I can't believe anyone took him seriously and even offered the dumbass a response. Oh, and this too, Sheridan rules.
