With Nebraska taking a commitment from a SG, I am thinking that we are #1 if we weren't before....but I do agree I think that Wyoming has always been the school to beat.
Wyoming has a definite opening for Parker, and has left a scholarship open for him. Hunter Maldonado is not a SG imo, he is more of SF, whereas Parker is a SG, and we don't have a SG commitment in this class. The commitment from Hunter Thompson I do feel helps Wyoming a lot, and I have no doubt that the coaching staff has let Parker know how they structured their scholarships and what Thompson did just to make room for him....this doesn't hurt signing Parker. Wyoming hasn't stopped recruiting for the SG position, and the young man that Wyoming had a home visit the other day I do believe would give Wyoming a commitment is waiting in the wings to find out what happens with Parker. Scholarships are filling up fast, and I do feel that there is pressure on Parker, not just from UW but from all of the schools, to make his decision.
I have thought that this is a really great situation for Parker, coming to UW. In the MW Conference, the way that Edwards is building the team they will be a big competitor for the championship for years to come, and will be a prime NCAA team year in and year out. In the Big 10 (Nebraksa) and the SEC (Miss.) neither of these teams will be competing for championships, just to be one of the last teams considered for the NCAA out of their conferences. In addition, I have no doubt that Parker has seen the two transfers that Wyoming has gotten (Ny & Brodericks) and know that these are the type of guys that will help take Wyoming to the NCAA's year after year.
Don't know how this will go, but I do believe that Wyoming is one of the top 2. Let's hope that he choses Wyoming!
