P12 - MWC

Supposedly the MWC and pee12 have agreed to May 19 as the settlement date and requested an additional 60 day stay on May 7 to the original stay that expires May 16.

Don’t expect May 19 as the actual final settlement. It is probably the first date with the mediator. If it goes well the discussions would likely continue (unless the pea12 concedes and agrees to a magic number the MWC has determined acceptable) but if not it may end up in the court. If the pee12 is adamant about lowballing in an attempt to destroy the MWC grant of rights deal to poach UNLV then look for it to get ugly fast. I don’t have any feeling that OSU/WSU and the commissioner Theresa Ghoul will be overly amenable. Hope I’m wrong and the traitors are pushing for getting some deal to move on quickly.

I hope the traitors are crapping their pants as June 1 is the formal exit notice deadline before fees double. Go for maximum fee collection MWC. The greed of $$ and a condescending attitude is driving the pee12.
I dont see anyone in the Pee to look to do anything but try and destroy the MW, including all the former MW members. I hope the MW is in a good position and gives very little to settle.

Make them pay!!! A lot!! It’s disingenuous to act like they didn’t know what they were agreeing to. If the Pee is everything the ewes who crap on the field, the maggie’s, the spuds, the a$$tecs, etc think it is (it isn’t) they’ll get it back!!!

The Pac will try to destroy the MW...the MW will try to destroy the Pac. The moral high ground doesn't matter here. It will come down to the lawyers. All parties will try and get/save as much money as possible.

The only thing the MW did was help the pee with a scheduling agreement. All they’re trying to do is get what they’re due to them and their members. I didn’t see where the MW is trying to inflict anything on the pee.

I agree there is a distinction. The MWC said both of the contracts in litigation were agreed upon by the 5 traitors who as members of the MWC desired the monetary compensation.

Those traitors were then sucked into the allure of becoming the next conference to be considered autonomous P5 along with up to 4 times the TV revenue as opposed to the current MWC deal. This recruitment was led by the same mentality that ripped the P12 apart in the first place and it’s obvious now the money is not going to be as substantial as first bragged.

Then the traitors and their leaders in the pee2 started crapping their pants when it became obvious they weren’t going to generate the income to get the best 3 from the AAC and by then the MWC had solidified an agreement and added teams.

Now their biggest issue is escaping the payment of what each and every one of those 7 programs signed onto so they can alleviate their financial burdens. The scuttlebutt is TV isn’t going as well because they won’t be getting any exciting 8th football team without spending huge money (at whose expense?). I have also heard OSU/WSU wants more control than sharing equally.

The MWC is contractually the beneficiary. But the group of pee12 wants to reduce the amount they pay to destroy the GOR the MWC has in place because they are getting desperate for an 8th football member and now they do have an interest in unlv.

The pee12 group arrogantly didn’t want to include most of the MWC. Instead of merging to form a 14 team conference or not going for at least 9 of the MWC (the number needed to dissolve the MWC), they thought they could plunder any other conference they wanted just to get to be a member of conference with a defunct logo.

It may seem far fetched, but a merger now would make a 16 team football conference the same size as the B12. Hoops would be at 18 and the Olympic sports would not be impacted as much since the regional aspect stays intact.

But that’s all conjecture at this point. The settlement could be quick and announced May 19 or we could find out how ugly it might get. So far I haven’t heard a single thing indicating the pee12 intends to make the mwc a desirable offer. We will find out soon.

I should re-word this ... I don't think either side cares if the other side exists or not. Currently the MW has some legal barriers that the Pee would like to go away. If they can cause the demise of the MW...then those barriers disappear...that is all, there is no animosity. It is a dog-eat-dog legal brawl. For better or worse (mostly worse IMO), pointing out how the "traitors" "stabbed us in the back" doesn't matter to anybody. You either have leverage to get to where you want to go or you get crushed. Wyoming and the Wyoming-like schools will get crushed.

The $$$ numbers to keep in mind:

The full $145 million Wyoming walks away with over $18 million in the next couple of years. This is the ultimate win but the least likely.

The minimum number which (would feel like a loss) is $61 million with a $7 million payout to Wyoming by July 2026.

Anything in between is divided by the next $18 million and then the next $21 million based on a formula favoring UNLV and AFA, with a lesser formula for Wyoming, UNM, SJSU and Nev ending with 5% for Hawaii.

Absolute Minimum $61 million
Ideal minimum $79 million
Reward zone $100 million
F the pee12 is anything over $100+ million.

If the MWC walks away with $100 million it’s a big win for Wyoming at around $12 million. It would be a 69% overall collection for the MWC.

The numbers really do favor the MWC if they don’t fold under pressure. The onus is on the pee12 to concede. The pee12 needs an 8th team sooner than later and the 5 mwc teams need to officially exit without a 2026 TV deal in less than 3 weeks or face steeper penalties to leave after June 1. I just don’t see the sun shining brightly on the pee12 at the moment.

I hope the MWC does not capitulate. Those greedy bastards called down the thunder, now it’s time to make them pay. Once signed, contracts should be binding. P-2 shouldn’t be allowed to change the terms after the fact just because they don’t like them.

Next few weeks should be interesting!

Yet these terms always end up getting negotiated...whether it's coaching buyouts or agreements to play on somebodies home field. It comes down to the leverage you can apply to collect on the agreement. The agreement is always just a starting point it seems like.

I heard a talking head speculate that part of the mediation process makes the June 1st deadline soft at best. The exiting teams can make an argument that they can't make a decision until the mediation process is complete.

I have no idea if that is correct or not, but maybe all mediation does it let the exiting teams kick the can down the road in hopes of absolving the mwc by luring UNLV.

The Nevada legislature was pretty clear that if the PAC wants UNLV it has to take Nevada as well. In all likelihood mediation will result in a compromise deal by the deadline.

No surprise there. Anything is possible if agreed to.

The crap from Canzano is heating up big time where he had some lawyer from Oregon say the pee12 is in excellent shape to win in court as the MWC has a frivolous contract. He is also spouting off that Tulane is now ready to be a prime expansion candidate. I only report and don’t take much of what he says as valuable. The guy is literally all over the place with “insider knowledge” most of which has consistently been hot air.

Unless the MWC becomes spineless and puckers up to kiss the pea12 butt, I still have to believe this will fall into how low will the MWC go in concession to move forward.

The minimum is 42% - 61 million
The next increment is 54.5% - 79 million

I certainly hope the MWC gets at least 60% which is $87 million.

As long as there are no strings attached that make for future escapes from payment I believe the MWC can survive and compete with the pee12 group. Getting their 8th football member is a big deal for them and that clock is ticking. I just don’t see the MWC conceding to anything less than the 42-60% range. I could see UNLV being bought out since utep and UNI would keep us at 8 teams. But even at that, the MWC move to Vegas and the extension of the contract for the basketball tournament makes it doubtful.

Northern Iowa?

The latest scoop:

Mediation had the merger put back out on the table. Supposedly the traitors are amenable to a merger because they are down to 10 days before they have to pay their $5,000 and submit their official exit papers to avoid a doubling of the current exit fees they already cannot afford. This is with no grant of rights with the pee2, a tv deal and an 8th member. Sources are saying these issues are concerning to the traitors because if they don’t get relief in huge numbers it will be a potential costly move to blindly jump ship.

Supposedly sources are saying that OSU has contacted the B12 “recently” and that doesn’t exactly make the traitors have confidence going forward.

This information is from the Monty Show today. They claim to be hearing from sources that have previously been quiet.

Bottom line - no official mediation information has been released, but sources friendly to the traitors are expressing concerns since the pea12 is not filling in the blanks creating an atmosphere of instability. Will the MWC fold and concede or will they say to the pee12 your options are:

1 - Accept our offer
2 - Pay up
3 - Try your hand in court

Stay tuned…

Another note - Canzano was still spouting yesterday getting a lucrative settlement deal and then expanding the pea12 by 3 teams starting with Texas State and then adding Tulane/Memphis as football only. He is convinced the MWC has no legal standing.

Even Monty referred to him as something like a tool.

The reason why I give more credibility to what Monty shares is you can find information to support it and all the reference to the traitors getting nervous is based on the fact that there are no completed deals with established financials with numerous deadlines approaching.

Great info, and great posts!!!! Thank you

Thanks for the updates. This is the reason I came to look today.

I’m no legal expert, but if the MW has no standing, why have a contract in the first place? For anything. I thought that was “exactly” the reason you had a contract, so the parties have a full understanding of terms and conditions and sign stating such?

What am I missing?

You aren't missing anything. No one has the slightest idea what is going on. Everyone is just throwing shit against the wall to see what sticks.
