this offense looks different. DC and brett said not much has changed... but that triple option thingy; were smith can hand off, keep it and roll towards the flat, or throw the bubble screen; I've never seen that play.

maybe just having a solid line and solid running game have changed the flow. it sure is fun to watch. wick is a fast little bowling ball... his center of gravity and balance are way ahead of anybody ive seen at Wyoming in a while. Devin was fast and could cut, but he didn't stay as compact as wick does... wicks almost always falls or drives downhill, taking a pile with him.

I can't say enough about our line. the tackles, guards, and center... what a difference.

ive seen jones, perez, strong all make pancake blocks. Im sure the tackles have too, but seeing the interior of the line flattening d-tackles is awesome.

I was impressed with gentry... even though the two holding calls hurt.

eddie is an animal... for being a little bit light, he really bull rushes with arms extended deep into the backfield, then throws the olineman and breaks to the ball. crazy grip strength

olive impressed me too... twice I saw him beat double teams. when he has one on one blocking he pushes and maintains his gap, but once a double team comes to him he gets very low. he drops his pad level and creates a mound of lineman in the gap... then he makes a leg tackle. he might be part grizzly bear, as it seems like he's stronger while running on four legs.

puletasi, he's like the sasquatch on the jerky commercials. don't make him mad, or your ass is going airborne.

and wacha. what can I say... I don't know where he comes from... there will be solid blocking and the running back will have a little daylight, then the running back gets hit from a flash of brown; then you see Wacha get up from the pile clapping his hands. its like he goes into cloak mode or has invisible powers, cause nobody see's him till its too late

and huff... he will take the 1st team mountain west safety spot this year. he covers everything, and is the safety net that stops the big play. he plays with everything in front of him

its been a good two weeks.

absolutely...

I was just going to post about mertens... did you see the sack that led to the fumble?

his legs are the size Mount Olympus Granite Pillars. I think he goes into the snowies on the weekends to cut down trees for fun. and he wrestles silverbacks in the circus for spending money.

I think he listened to a boy named sue when he was a kid, cause he sure terrifies the solid waste out of me

Eddie Yarbrough isn't that light. He is 257 lbs as a pass rushing Defensive End. As a comparison Demarcus Ware (DE end for Dallas Cowboys) is 251 lbs.

I agree with everything said in the previous posts.

I'm glad we have Tanner Gentry for the next 4 years. He's not afraid to catch in traffic. He plays beyond a typical true freshman.

Another thing that stands out to me this year is our receivers yards after catch. For 5 years I watched our receivers catch balls and immediately hunker down for the hit. This year more are catching the ball in stride and picking up substantial yards.

Go Pokes! I'm soooo looking forward to the Air Force game!

I was going to say that he's pretty much on par with some of the best DE pass rushers... if you bulk up much more than that, you'll lose speed.

As for the Gentry comment - he's definitely smart for a freshman, and though his holds were annoying, at least that means he's trying to do his job as a blocker. Our receivers all seem to be very good blockers, which makes a huge difference for the guy with the ball. regardless of who that is.

The first hold on Gentry was pretty obvious, but the second was not a hold IMO, I got to see the replay a few times and it was questionable at best.
