OT: Bama safety's mom talks about the draft

Normally, I read lots of article like this and just go about my day...

But this is one of the most pretentious, absurd things I have read in a LONG time.

This mother is trying to describe why she was upset her kid went to Alabama instead of LSU. But instead of the usual, I want him closer to home, I miss him...her reasons are insanely selfish...I have to drive 4 hours to Tuscaloosa, he didn't start freshman year and almost wouldn't have got drafted...

And the most absurd quote (for me at least):
Landon and I had already charted out a three-and-out plan.

At LSU, I was convinced he could play immediately, wind up a Freshman All-American and build the momentum to be a first-rounder after his junior season.

At ‘Bama, I was worried he’d be buried on Nick Saban’s notoriously deep depth charts.

Just a glimpse in to what football life is really like in the south.

In that area in general when it comes to College Football you will see more families with selfish attitudes like that then anywhere else in the US.

I'm not surprised. Anyway to get rich quick without busting your rear off works for most. Ah...the American Dream.

My sympathies.

Best way to survive in this area of the college football world...avoid the local sports radio stations and the local fish wrap aka the newspaper.

Well, it's fun for high school football (too). Three years ago I started going back to some high school football games and I had some fun.

The ONLY high school football game I ever went to was Lawton (OK) Wolverines @ OKC Putnam City North Panthers (now my alma mater), 1991 State 5A Second Round game in which PCN won, 21-7.

@Wyokie
You didn't earn enough points!
We grew up football crazy down here. It was something entire towns went to watch. We went to many places in Texas to watch HS football games. We would even fly in one of mama's planes to games a few times.
I started to go back to some of the games in my county when I got tired of going to some college games and putting up with the CFB BS.
I'd go around to different games. I'd watch a cousin play, a nephew's game, my alma mater's game, my parent's alma mater's etc. just mixing it up. I think I'll go to a few games this year too.
And I give to a lot of those school's anyway.

She doesn't like her son's college choice.
She argues with the girlfriends family.
She has personal issues with the agent.
She doesn't like who her son runs with in his circle.
She doesn't realize it's not all about her...

I think you guys are being exceptionally hard on "Mom." After all, she does now have to wait a whole extra year for her new Mercedes and/or house. That's probably a whole extra year of cleaning toilets for her.
