Once everyone gets it out their system

Being "competitive" like we have for the last 8 years seems to leave many fans (at least many posters here) unsatisfied. If the last 8 years is the best we can hope for...what then? Is that ok?

To put a sharper point on it...I'm referring to the gap that continues to grow between Wyoming and the top of the conference. Yes the conference may look different in the near future but even while we have been pretty dominant against CSU during the last 8 years we have pretty much come up with bupkis against roughly the top half of the MWC. I suppose that is more "competitive" than say UNM or CSU during that stretch but it's nothing to write home about.
I’m realistic. The last eight years is about as good as we can do. I think we can truly content about one of every eight years and always be .500 and above

I was a little bit encouraged that in the second half as our defense actually looked like they wanted to be there, finally. They weren't great, but they didn't need to be either... or well, I suppose technically they did need to score, because the offense is still among the worst I've seen.

I have a tiny bit of hope that we'll win a game now, but in the end, will that really matter?
I suppose if we can get points from the defense we might win. Not optimistic the O can score enough to win.

I don't begrudge Bohl and what he gave us these past 8 years, I am still waiting for when "Those that stay will be Champions" to come true. Unfortunately, I think we have regressed about 10 years.
IF (Big F'n IF) we show up and beat Provostan this next week, I will dive head first onto the PBJ train and fly up to help carry the goal post down to the Buckhorn (was there the last time it happened)

I was pretty happy with where we were at. We didn't have the budgets and attendance as the top end of the conference. We were efficient with budgets and nobody could overlook us. The football program was self sufficient and propping up other atheletics programs. We'd get outside donations, but not much out of the university or tax base for funding.

The game is switching to eyeballs on advertisements, and we just don't have the population to sustain that. We could subsidize it from the legislature, but all that is doing is transferring money from the tax payers to ESPN - for what? A winning FBS football team...

$$$ has screwed up college ball far worse than the NFL

From my limited football knowledge, we can get a lot better by cleaning up the penalties. If we are successful in that, we'll be a lot better.

That being said, BYU's defensive line is faster than Idaho's and if we don't get better protection, it won't matter who is QB.

Well, the depth chart came out so we’ll be seeing Evan stink it up

He will have a shorter leash. But we’re lying to ourselves to think a QB change is going to make any significant difference.
I don't know enough about Anderson to guess how he would do but have seen enough of Svoboda to know he should not be wearing 17.

I don't know anything about football mechanics and quarterbacks. The one thing that I noticed is how Evan's passes seem to have this odd downward trajectory. He throws so hard almost downward if that makes sense. Until he sails one over the middle. There isn't much touch to his passes. Nerves? Even as a tall guy the dump passes look barely catchable. But I don't know a lot about it.

My wife who likely has never thrown a football noticed the same thing. It as if he thinks the harder you throw the ball the better the pass.

Comes from throwing the javelin. It’s irreparably destroyed his mechanics. Look at a javelin competition then compare it to how svboda throws a football

I’ve mentioned before that it probably won’t help but it’s the only shot they have at making a market improvement. It’s qb centric sport so it stands to reason that it could make the biggest difference

Nothing wrong with running a 2 QB system this year...IMO. And it needs to happen.

I'd like to know when a 2 qb system has ever worked. Because I can't think of any.
Vigen and Montana State were very successful with it for 2 years. Put Chambers in with big packages to take advantage of his skill set. Used Mellott when needed to present an actual fear of passing. Would run with both QBs but typically only power with Chambers.

Made the championship game in 2022. Made the 2nd round and lost to NDSU in OT in a 2023 season of QB injuries.
