Let’s talk about actual football. I get they fucking suck right now but let’s talk about how they get better. 2 losses are two losses. It’s not over. I know some say it is but we’ve only lost one we thought we’d win. It’s still correctable.

First, they need jmike and Waylee in a bad way. Jones is pretty good. Farrell just isn’t that great. I thought we ran pretty good today especially when we ran power qb. For one, this negates a 0 gain play from a poor pass and gives us some yards.

Second, none of it matters without some qb play. My gut says Evan can’t be the guy. He made one good pass. Feet, behind WRs and trying to burn passes at 4 yards won’t cut it. Bohl had the luxury of smash mouth to carry us for quite a few years.

What was the change in the D? Did anyone notice? Did we take DeMarzo out or something? Liked how they played second half and this side of the ball is most correctable and could be consistent.

I realize I’m very much in the minority. Some of it is convincing myself, but I don’t think this team is hopeless.

I'm more on the hopeless side right now for the season, but agree with OP on all your points.

What did change with the d? It was night and day different in the 2nd half compared to the first. Did they finally figure something out that can carry forward?

For the first time, I agree with SDPokeFan. There is no hope. The o-line play is so soft. We’ve regressed so far in coaching and fundamentals that we need to talk about how to prepare for next year and to resurrect the program.

No discipline. No toughness. No strength. Our OL is marshmallow soft.

I know Barnett got smoked a few times on the edge but I don’t think the O line play was that bad today. Evan can’t see the field and he doesn’t have a good clock to go with the passes that don’t go where they need to go.

That's a good idea. Let's talk about actual football. Our qb completed 10-24 passes for a buck twenty five against an fcs defense at home. Waylee returning isn't going to make any difference now that the level of competition is about to get a lot tougher. If Svoboda isn't the guy, then what makes anyone think that we have the guy on our bench? Sadly, any qb we have is getting coached by the same numbnuts that brought Svoboda to the level he is today.
I get that it's just 2 games. But I didn't see any improvement today over a vastly weaker opponent. And frankly, it's really ironic to see the millions of dollars being poured into this stadium and the peanuts being paid for the coaching staff. Fans are not going to pay these prices to see this awful product for very long.

Evan is crappy but the OL was getting no push in the run game against an FCS team. At the end, Svoboda had no time. Our line is not good. BYU will have their way with them.

How much worse is Boise without Jeanty?

I concede that improved QB play is unlikely even with a change at QB. But change at QB is likely the only chance we have at turning it around the offensive side of the ball.

I don’t think Idaho is a bad team.

I saw a line that was overmatched against Idaho. No push in the run game. Say what you want about Bohl’s offenses, but last just last year this same group was typically 2-3 yards off the ball every play.

I didn't say Idaho was a bad team. But most of the teams we have left to play are a lot better than Idaho, starting with next week.

Blown out on the road against a p5 (we'll see how good tonight).
Lost at home against decent fcs team.

Those are facts. Beat byu and I'll start discussing football. Until there's a w, everything is just talk.

Am I the only one that hates the hurry up? Don’t know, I just hate it. And how many times did we run it between the tackles??

Also, I think the clapping instead of a snap count it retarded

Aren’t most of our runs RPOs or just run options? Cant blow the d line back 2-3 yards if you end up throwing it. Thats what sucks about that kind of football. If you end up throwing it, it’s illegal man downfield. I thought DJ ran the ball pretty good today, 17 carries for 80 yards.

I think you pick and choose. I saw them really hurry after a decent gain, but the follow up play rarely was effective

Was surprised to see a lot of defensive 4-man rushes and not a ton on the blitz.. felt like the Cowboys should have been harassing a 2nd string QB a lot more than they were.

I was a little bit encouraged that in the second half as our defense actually looked like they wanted to be there, finally. They weren't great, but they didn't need to be either... or well, I suppose technically they did need to score, because the offense is still among the worst I've seen.

I have a tiny bit of hope that we'll win a game now, but in the end, will that really matter?

Defense against an fcs team relying on 2nd string freshman qb? Oh, and they won the damn game. Forgive me if I'm a bit of a Debbie downer.

Unlike last week, they actually tried to get to the ball, though, rather than watching and standing still if they were further than 10 yards away.

Sure, it's sad when "appearing to care enough to try" is a positive, but it's a step in the right direction.
