Zero if he doesn’t accept a reduced buyout.

But - given the genius we have seen in games, maybe he would agree to take less money in a buyout to leave. It would make as much fiscal and business sense as his game management.

He could resign and refuse any additional compensation. He could also negotiate a resignation.

I speculate he is determined to succeed and planning to return in 2026. As hard as these past 2 years have been, if he makes big changes to the coaches/players and puts an exciting offense on the field winning 6+ games it could change everything. Odds are unlikely it will happen.

Who knows - maybe an individual with deep pockets who might have been in attendance at the game got really disappointed and has offered to Burman the funds to terminate him leaving resources to make a new hire immediately.

With Burman in charge all bets are off.

There's no sense of honor in that. If I was the HC making that kind of money, I would if I realized that I was doing major harm to the program. Sometimes money shouldn't play a role in your career. If you know you stink as a HC, the honorable thing to do is quit and go back to being a coordinator or position coach.

Money isn't everything.

Negotiated settlement is a remote possibility, but i'd say about 10% chance. It would be for like $2.5 million and it has to come from private donors so it doesn't look like they are using state funds for this fiasco.

There is no Maury Brown money any more so it would have to come from Scotts, Rochelle, Wolds, Trues, -- not sure if any of those people or anybody else that has an interest in the program would want to pony up that type of money. That contract was such a fiasco by UW. Just terrible leadership from the BOT and Burman. Better guess is there is major turnover with the assistant coaching staff and we may see some sort of "associate head coach / offensive coordinator" with a large salary that the University pays so Burman and UW don't have to make those calls to the type of donors mentioned above.

Next year's schedule is so soft that Sawvel and Burman just want to survive the next couple of weeks and bury the season and move on. If it takes a big salary for an offensive coordinator that they can sell the fan base on then that's more likely. 25% chance of that happening.
