I'd be for utah state and nmsu to join the mwc. Idaho and san jose state no! That would give us 12 western programs. Add gonzaga for non-football sports. It could work. 12 teams means a conference title game back in vegas.

Think about it:
Mwc east-
Wyo, csu, af, nmex, nmsu, boise
Mwc west-
Sdsu, fresno, hawaii, usu, unlv, nevada.

It would be divided up pretty fairly. And ganzaga takes the hawaii spot in everything after football.

I believe this works!

Do you really think that Gonzaga would leave the WCC for the MWC plus all the extra travel it would incur? Right now they're ESPN darlings who makes plenty of money and their fan base has the chance of watching their games. Remember how long it took the MTN to get going; many area's with MWC schools had a hard time getting the channel. I'm not sure how easy it would be to move the MTN into Spokane when so many of the bigger named schools have already departed.

Gonzaga, like all other WCC members is a faith based school; which they seem to enjoy. Other than BYU, all are west coast schools (I guess Spokane isn't really a west coast school but not too far off) so if they stay in the WCC they'll make 1 trip away from the west coast; if they move they make almost every trip away from the coast.

Gonzaga and boise aren't that far apart. Western idaho and eastern washington.

Nmsu>idaho

We aren't gonna be a bcs league so mite as well get hoops programs. Idaho blows in just about everything.

Gonzaga to Boise is probably close to a 6-8 hr drive. You're talking southwest Idaho and northeast Washington.

I can't think of one time where NMSU was relevant in anything.. though, they did beat New Mexico this year. I just see Idaho as a better add than NMSU... even though they have the Kibbie Dome and they're out of our footprint. But it would give Boise a natural rival.

New mexico is in the mwc foot print, yet nmsu isn't? Idaho had a fluke year last year and made a bowl. Yahoo!

Just saying las cruses sounds like a better place to play then moscow. Plus do you really think any mwc team wants to go and watch their teams play in a ipf with a few stands built in. This is what the kibbie dome basically is.

The gonzaga thing I will give you with travel and reasons being where they are.

I'm not at all gonna be for du being added tho. So maybe roll with 11 in everything but football.

I was talking about UI not really being in the footprint. NMSU obviously would be.

Personally, I'd rather go to Moscow.. but that's only because it's 4 hrs away. I don't know much about Las Cruces, so I'll with hold judgment, but it doesn't seem like a travel destination for me.. not that Moscow is either. And ... I've seen worse domes. Their neighbor to the East in Pocatello has a horrible dome. Idaho needs to ditch that stuff and play football outdoors like the rest of their conference.

From Schmoldt's Twitter: Wyo AD Tom Burman said there are some benefits going forward: "Wyoming is in a league now where budgets are at least comparable."

Oh my god. I am moving this to a topic of it's own. Un-fucking-real.

What Tom means, "We have a shot at some MWC titles now that TCU, UTAH, and BYU are gone". Well, none anytime soon in hoops!

I don't take it that way. I take it like he is happy to now not have to work to compete against what was (TCU, Utah, bWHYu). That is rediculous. Dummy down the brand, so you look better? Fuck that.

I would rather compete against the top 25 than fucking watch them on TV every week (knowing our athletic department doesn't share the same goals as "some" of the fanbase really pisses me off).
