No programs worth adding to Big12

"Ten is what we are and I think the status quo with all 10 schools committed and with grants of rights for all our media, we're distributing the largest amount of money per school of any of the leagues right now and I don't think any of our members want to change that,"

Translation: We have no viable option to expand which will also increase our revenue. Expansion is dead unless something like FSU/Clemson comes calling.

I agree.

I also keep thinking that the B12 might get absorbed itself. It would be much "cleaner" for the current playoff format to have the champion from 4 "elite" conferences instead of the current problems with a pool of 5. I envision (4) 16 team conferences and programs like Duke, Wake Forest, Iowa State, Texas Tech, and Northwestern might be left on their asses with the rest of us.

Unless the ncaa truly takes over the post-season for D1A college football, I just don't see the playoff's expanding - definitely not more than 8 teams to allow 4 from the SEC in.

There is a reason the schools left the Big 12 and with the attitude of we don't need 12 they will continually get left out of the play offs and schools will leave or they will expand. Granted if they just name one champion it would help but clearly if you have a conference championship between divisions you will always pass them.

Im not so sure about that. This was one year. If one or two things went different they could have gotten 2 teams into the playoff. Sometime the CCG will hurt conferences and sometimes it will help. Sometimes not having a CCG will hurt the BIG 12 and sometimes it will help.

I don't agree with that, I don't think it will ever help them and it will always hurt them. One true champion of a conference is likely to always pass them if they are only one rank behind them. Hell OSU leaped over Baylor and TCU both because of the conference championship game at least that is what the committee said.

Conference Championship Game helped Florida State when they beat a ranked Georgia Tech.
CCG helped Oregon when they played a ranked Arizona.
CCG helped Alabama when they played a ranked Mizzou.
CCG helped Ohio State when they played a ranked Wisconsin.

But, it only helped these teams because they were either "in" or "on the bubble" and playing teams ranked below them.

Now, had Arizona, Mizzou, Georgia Tech, and Wisconsin won those games, Arizona would be the only one of those teams that made the playoff because they were a Top 10 team when the CCG was played. It would have hurt the ACC, SEC, and Big10 if those lesser ranked teams upset the higher ranked teams in the CCG.

A win over another ranked team when you are on the bubble helps bump you up. It also solidifies your spot in. But if there was an upset, then the CCG would be hurting those conferences, unless the less ranked team is still a Top 5 or Top 10 team.

OSU TCU and Baylor were all extremely close according to the comitee. I don't think the comittee wanted to choose between TCU and Baylor so they went with OSU. If there was an upset in a championship game we would have seen TCU and or Baylor in the playoff.

If alabama had lose to Mizzou then the CCG would have hurt the SEC while helping the Big 12. We will have to see in a few years how the trends work but making decision to expand based on one year of barely getting left out would look desperate. There are 5 power conferences and 4 spots at least one conference is going to get left out every year.

And others say it is because Ohio State is a big state school with a large brand name while Baylor and TCU are small private schools etc. The playoff committee is a sham. It's worthless to more programs than it is a benefit to.

The Big 12's round robin style of play is the better than a 2 or more divisions conference. Everyone should play each other.

I could say so much about cfb bs but whatever....

I still think that come spring, they'll have two additional members bringing the Big XII to an actual XII. Not too sure that CSU would be one of them...but they've pulled off some weird crap this past year...

My guess if the Big XII does expand...

A. Grab Boise and BYU 'cos that's what ESPN wants and we all know if they want something they get it!

OR

B. Grab Cincinnati and Memphis.

If they don't expand, I could see the conference go belly up in a few years with everyone currently in it leaving.

I see them going East more than West, so that WVU has some company.

I agree completely BUT good ole ESPN wants them to take Boise and BYU.

If ESPN "wanted" them to, BSU and BYU would have been gone already.
