NIU was #2 last week in ESPN's bottom 10.NIU is very similar to a decent high school team. Glad we won. We should have. As Ore mentioned, pretty sure NIU is the worst team in FBS.
They did it, NIU is #1!!!
UTEP creeping up to #3.
What great additions to the MWC…

Bottom 10: Week 7's rash of upsets turned everything upside down
From the Longhorns to the Dawgs, a bunch of top teams bottomed out in Week 7.www.espn.com
But we “won” because we got paid some money! They did it, NIU is #1!!!

Would you rather we be in C-USA with Middle Tennessee State, Kennesaw State, and Delaware? That was the alternative. They did it, NIU is #1!!!

No. Of course not. I would suggest Big Sky over a ridiculous CUSA conference playing irrelevant crappy teams all over the country. At least the MWC was able to maintain some semblance of a western footprint. But make no mistake, competition wise, the MWC and CUSA are pretty darn close in football now.Would you rather we be in C-USA with Middle Tennessee State, Kennesaw State, and Delaware? FCS is not an option.No. Of course not. I would suggest Big Sky over a ridiculous CUSA conference playing irrelevant crappy teams all over the country. But Burman and the athletic department over the last 15 years or so is the biggest reason we were left to pick between the ‘ol Southpark options of Turd Sandwich and Giant Douche.
We were left behind by Utah State and Colorado State. We were found by peers to be less desirable than those programs. How desirable was Utah State 10-15 years ago?
We tried for Texas State first. They denied us in favor of the PAC.Can we send NIU back and pick another team to join the MWC?
I know this. I was trying to make a joke.We tried for Texas State first. They denied us in favor of the PAC.
Smart move on their part. There isn’t any program worth much wanting to come to this new MWC. That’s just the unfortunate reality of things.

I see this as unlikely. All will be back together again someday in the near future, so not sure it matters who is where in what conference at this point.
I see this as unlikely.
The MWC being forced to add UC-Davis, Grand Canyon, NIU and UTEP probably eliminates any sort of merger iand there are probably enough programs now in the MWC to oppose any dissolution.
Wyoming’s best chance from my perspective is to have athletic success and fund the heck out of athletics until the current TV deal is up and hope that success will be enough for a PAC invite along with like UNM and UNLV. Boise and /or Oregon State leaving the PAC would be to our benefit most likely to escape the MWC.
We are probably a couple of years from the top 50 or 60 schools form a elite tier with 2 or 3 super conferences. Wyoming, the MWC and Pac Rats will be lucky to be in the second tier.Although I see what you are saying, and I understand it, the current "model" in college football is not working. There is a massive gap, and it is just getting wider. None of the FudgePac or MWC are going to ever cross that gap, sans maybe, VERY maybe, Donkey State or Oregon State. The rest...well...they are the rest. And with the $$$$ pie shrinking, there is absolutely no guarantee G6 conferences will even exist down the road.
