NIU

Once the MWC was forced to invite UTEP/Grand Canyon/UC-Davis/NIU just to survive....all talks of mergers are forever gone. Not sure why this board is so optimistic that such a thing will happen in the future. Wyoming's best chance in the future is probably Oregon State and Boise State leaving the PAC and trying to package us with New Mexico and UNLV (and perhaps Hawaii) to basically re-create the former MWC +Washington State after the current GOR expires. But at this point, I just see this as unrealistic absent major changes within the athletics department.

Oh I don't think they merger happens now. Grand Canyon is a really good MBB and WBB school and UC-Davis gets you a travel partner with SJSU. The MW needs to be dominant in basketball to counter the PAC. I think Gonzaga is going to boat race the PAC and it won't be close

Huge built in advantage for Gonzaga. They receive a full share as Olympics only despite the fact that football accounts for 80+ percent of conference revenues. Eventually that gap will create discord between members.

Gonzaga maintains basketball prowess based on football income of other schools.

Once the other conferences explode, perhaps Cal and Standford come back to PAC ?

If the Senate passed bill makes it through the House, it seems there will be 2 super-conferences, 2 or 3 in the next tier, then a lower grouping which will likely include the MW and AAC. The PAC is hoping to stay in the 2d tier but is more likely to fall out given its' premier teams OSU and BSU will likely be poached by the Big 12 or ACC.
