NIT!!

Crown or bust for them.

Boise rejected the NIT last year betting on a crown invite and they got it.
To be honest, I did not even know the Crown tournament existed. It sounds like the NIT is no longer considered the de facto second best tournament that it once was. That being said, there are still some pretty good teams in this years NIT tournament. A couple wins might help this team. A loss in the first round certainly won't. Going to be a tough battle against Wichita State.

I am not sure the Crown is even having the same field like they did last year. They may only host 4 teams
The teams will be announced today at 5:30 eastern time. It appears there will be 8 teams with 2 from the B12, B10 and BEast with 2 wild cards. It makes you wonder why the ACC and SEC is not included.

The main reason given for the reduction from 16 to 8 is the concern teams are unlikely to field a solid roster with the transfer portal even though it doesn’t open until 4-7 and the Crown concludes 4-5.

I think we all kind of know the answer.

It's likely that a lot of players transferring already have offers and NIL deals in place verbally. Or they at the very least have already made up their mind they are entering the transfer portal in hopes of landing an NIL deal somewhere. Why would they take the chance of getting injured and losing that pay day?

Wichita State fan here.

The Shockers made the biggest mid-season turnaround I've ever seen and I'm older than some dirt. They aren't playing nearly as poorly as they did against Boise and CSU.

Kenyon Giles (SG) is our leading scorer. He's only 5'10", but he shoots right at 40% from 3 and has range from the logo in any arena I've seen this year.

Emmanuel Okorafor (6'10") starts at Center. He's OK against overmatched opponents, but we don't expect a lot from him. He;s foul prone and nor consistent scoring at the rim.

Will Berg (7'2") was 6th man of the year in our conference. Not unusual for him to get double-doubles and he blocks his share of shots.

Karon Boyd (6'6") plays PF. Was 3rd team all conference. He's strong, plays physical, can drive and finish and hits some 3's. Will get his share of boards

Dillon Battie and T.J. Williams (both 6'5") split time at SF. Both are primarily slashers and drivers. Battie hits the occasional 3, Williams does not. Both can go off for a dozen points on any given night. Both will getr some putbacks on offensive boards.

Michael Gray (6'2") plays the PG spot but isn't really a PG by the standard definition. He's probably the least dangerous of the rotation players.

Our arena is round and the shape makes it unusually loud. We hardly have any students at the games. It's the ticket holders who make the noise. For NIT games the corporate seats become available for single game purchases and we tend to have rowdy crowds when those seats get filled with younger *than 60) fans.

Looking at the common game we've had against Boise and considering WUS's improvement since then the line at WSU -5.5 seems a little low. I noticed that Wyoming did better against Boise later in the season, so I expect they had some improvement from their earlier game against Boise.

Our board is at www.shockernet.net. You're welcome to visit. Looking forwqard to seeing you Tuesday

Glad we won the CBI that year(can't remember which one as when I look back makes me feel old...lol) vs Coastal Carolina...it might come back some day, I love post season basketball cuz it rewards a hard work season and if u win u keep playing (unlike our level of football and a boring bowl)
