NFL Network televising pro day

This is wild just the amount of exposure the program has been getting is some big time stuff. Thank you Josh Allen. It's definitely going to get some extra eyes on a few of his teammates as well.

Wished we could have parlayed this into a few more 3* and maybe a single 4* recruit

I think this gives a great opportunity to start landing more kids that caliber. It won't happen overnight. There was a 4 star kid that had us a top choice but the staff didn't think he would be a good fit. Which could have been a variety of reasons why....Some kids think they have already made it therefore don't want to put in the work to be great..

It's only going to help having footage of a nationally televised pro day and the new HAPC which is first class all the way around no short cuts happened with that project. All great for recruiting.

There are a lot of P5 programs that havnt had NFL network at their pro day and a lot of them don't have a facility like the HAPC.

The program is definitely heading in the right direction.

This isn’t just Josh Allen. Yes, he is a big reason why 32 NFL teams will be represented in our Pro Day, but our coaching staff has networked and put the program in a position to do so.

Coach Bohl and staff are the real deal. We need to hold on to them as long as possible!

The real deal huh? Same guy who is 6-20 without Josh Allen and who’s most recent non Allen game was one of the worst in program history? We shall see this year.

I don't understand this critique at all. I think you could say the same for almost any coach "Well if it wasn't for the most talented players on his team, his team would be garbage" All coaches rely on recruiting great talent. I see a positive projection for this team but I also see that this team has it's major flaws and I put that on the coaches as well but I also acknowledge that Nick Saben would have those same challenges. We love laramie, if you are from wyoming you love laramie. But if you are used to an urban population Laramie is a strange place to land. It will always be a major hurdle to recruit top end athletes to wyoming for that reason. Wyoming has not had a complete team since who knows when. We have had great offenses at times, great defenses at times, but never a complete team. If I chose great offense with poor defense or a great defense with a poor offense I would choose to have a defense that keeps you in every game. Josh Allen was a big part of us winning last year but my hats off to the dominant defense created and coached up by this staff for being a bowl team.

I mean I'm definitely not one to think it's all Josh. I feel like I'm the only one that thinks our defense is the biggest reason for success last year.

I would agree the scouts are coming for more than just Josh. There is a good amount of NFL talent on our roster. Next season will be even more.

I don't think NFL network would be broadcasting live without Josh though.

Dude the team was down to freshman d linemen. They just got elimated from the conference championship game. They played with absolute zero energy. Had we beat Fresno the week before which we had our chance. We would of beat Sjsu by 3 touchdowns without Josh. The defense that showed up against CMU is not the one one who played SJSU. Not a representation of the state of the football program. SJSU ISNT FCS they recruit kids that want to win too. They struck while the iron was hot and when the mule was kicked in the ass. Josh Allen lost to EMU twice which is more embarrassing to me honestly.

I don't think anyone would argue the bolded part. That's not exactly an endorsement of the coaching staff. A conference game and they couldn't bother to get energized about it?

SJSU is not FCS, they were worse than many (most?) FCS teams last year. Bohl has lost to FCS teams too of course.

In terms of Eastern Michigan, your comment makes me wonder if you were following the program at all during that time. The first loss to Eastern Michigan was pretty much on par with the SJSU loss. That was an awful EMU team that beat us in Laramie. Awful. Do you remember the key detail regarding that game? Josh Allen started, went 3/4 for 32 yards and had 3 carries for 40 yards before getting injured (and subsequently missing the rest of the season). Nick Smith replaced him and went 3/13 for 0 yards (yes, zero).

The second EMU loss was on the road against a bowl bound EMU team. Still a bad loss, but nowhere near the SJSU loss or EMU home loss.

Btw, it doesn’t always have to be a major hurdle. I think at some point there is a paradigm shift when building a culture of success. It’s happened before (in small towns very similar to Laramie), and it will happen again.

It's not always on the coaching staff when players perform like shit. There was absolutely nothing to play for. We were potato bowl bound from the end of the Fresno game. San Jose still has 20 more scholarships to hand out than any FCS program. That loss isn't even close to the North Dakota loss. Or EMU.

Yes I know Josh got hurt against EMU. The first time. However he did technically lose to emu twice. That team hadnt won a road game since 1988. That program had been getting the shit kicked out of them for 30 years.

Look I agree is was definitely embarrassing losing to San Jose. I just don't think it's a true reflection of the program without Josh. Specially when the week before were going toe to toe against one of the Conference Championship participants.

That's a generous description of the Fresno game. We were shutout for the first 57+ minutes in that game.

The defense is good, and frankly was even good against SJSU (they were just on the field too long). The problem is the offense.

In terms of SJSU, I don't know what to say other than to point you to their results. They weren't just a bad team, they were a special kind of awful. They gave up 61 to USU, 59 to Nevada, etc. We could barely score on them.

In their 11 FBS games other than against UW, they lost by an average of 47-14. They went 0-11 and lost them all by at least 2 scores. They gave up 50 points in 5 of the 11 games, 40+ in 9 of the 11. The other two they gave up 37 and 27. We scored 17.

Mostly, it really bothers me that you are blaming Josh Allen for the EMU loss at home. He got hurt in the first quarter and he was playing very well before he got hurt.

I mean seriously, go back and look at the play by play for that game. Josh started and drove the Pokes down for a TD on their first drive. On the second drive he had them driving and he ran for a first down at the EMU 20 on the play that injured him. What the hell else would you like him to do? He only played 1 full series (for a TD) and a partial series (was driving for a TD).

I know exactly what happened in the first quarter of that game. Josh was playing great. I'm definitely not blaming Josh for the loss we had a much better chance of winning with him. We still gave up like 47 points and we were a special kind of awful that year. Probably would have still lost. This was a week after we lost to that hockey school from North Dakota.

I completely agree we shouldn't have lost to San Jose. They were awful. All I'm saying is good teams get beat by shitty teams all the time it happens in college football every year. If you overlook or come out flat Chandler Garrett and the Cental Oklahoma Bronchos will beat you. Every college coach will agree with that.

As for Fresno they outplayed us but we certainly didn't get dominated. Our total offense was even above average that game. A lot of people have forgotten about a couple costly turnovers deep in Fresno territory that wernt nicks fault. We even had a shot to win the game on the last play. Nick played fairly well up to the last play.
Not saying Nick is a great QB either I do believe Vander Waal will be our starter this year.

If Smith is the starter and remains the #1 all year, Wyoming will not win more than 2 games next season. He is that bad.

It's even more unfair of a critique given that Bohl and Co. were literally the only ones who found Josh.
