I believe Wyoming will be vastly improved. Coach Bohl really cleared the decks the last couple of years. This season I believe wyoming had just 7 seniors and an amazing 57 freshmen and redshirt freshman!!! How do you have 57 freshmen? Two huge freshmen classes, few juniors and fewer seniors. Wyoming Nation will need to be patient even next year, however, better days are in the near future! Have faith Cowboy nation, things will get real interesting once all of the youngsters get some age, experience, muscle and wins under their belts! Be patient.

We'd all feel a lot better regarding your observations if your name wasn't bleak... Seriously though, I do hope we are in the early stages of a masterpiece and that we are all just not clued in enough to see beyond the rough sketches. This last season looked more like kindergarten class finger paintings. Yes, some of the kiddies handed in decent artwork, but for the most part, not so much.

We will be better in some key positions but I think we will still struggle. I am looking forward to the QB position next year though. I think Josh will be a stud. In full disclosure though I really thought that Cam would be better than he was. After watching him run the scout team and shred our defense I had high expectations for him.

I think Cam played ok and was a marginal upgrade over Kirk. I expected a little more from him but he played injured some of the season. Our team really has been carried by great QB play over the years. If not for Brett Smith and ACS, DC's years would have been far worse. We need a true play maker again and I think Josh has the tools. I think he'll be able to pick up a few more first downs with his feet and his arm should be better than Cams. If we can get better O next year, that should limit the other team's possessions by 2-3. It could only help a D that needs all the help it can get

Defensive line really needs improvement and the linebackers need to put on some weight and continue to increase speed. I really think we are set with a solid receiving corps. (Corpse according to the TOTUS) I do hope they get rid of the current OC but it ain't gonna happen. UNLV game showed some promise with a different mindset.

The O can definitely work and the complexity of the pro-style makes it more difficult for youth. So, I think some of our offensive struggles are definitely just familiarity with the offense. Young guys have to think too much which slows things down quite a bit. Linemen will obviously be crucial and I think we are all a bit jaded at WYO because both DC and JG failed to establish good offensive lines. Bohl might or might not establish a good O-line, but the O-line is certainly a key to his success. As for Vigen, I think it is hard to tell if his play calling is suspect or his playbook was limited by youth. There is no way for me to know that, so I withhold judgment until after next year.

For the D, I'm okay with 4-3 but not necessarily our version where we have a modified and softer Tampa 2 as our base D. Again, some of this could be youth, but, damn, let the young dogs eat. I absolutely despise a bend don't break mentality and I worry that is the philosophy we maintain. When I heard all the Cowboy Tough rah rah crap, I was actually thinking a hard-nosed, blitzing, and swarming D. I don't a swarming and blitzing D is our philosophy. I also don't think our base D will be effective against the spread. Sitting back makes it much easier for the QB to make his 1 read. I really really hope our 4-3 philosophy is dictated by the youth and not Bohl's overall philosophy.

Kicking? Well, shit. That is all I have to say about that.

Overall, there are definitely some athletes on the team and a lot of young guys did get experience. Bohl chose this route to rebuild so we will see if it is the right way or not. There most certainly will be improvement with the familiarity of the O and the D. There most certainly will be improvement in size. My biggest question is on the D and will all the areas which will improve be enough to bring us from an FCS-level squad to an upper end MWC-level squad in the next 2 years? As much as I recognize that there will be substantial improvement, I also recognize that we have a looooong ways to go. If the gap between us and the upper end of one of the worst FBS conferences wasn't so wide, I'd feel a whole lot better. At this point, those are my biggest concerns.

At the end of the day (or rather season), I think this season was nothing more than 12 scrimmages and really doesn't indicate anything--good or bad.

Not all of them...the best ones will be back. Gentry, Maulhardt, and Parker will all be back which is good news. Some of the young ones are talking about transferring. Whether they do it or not remains to be seen.

Speaking of Parker.. The coaching staff is pretty high on Parker? He played a lot and didn't catch very many balls. Not sure what to think. He did have a nice catch and run vs UNLV, though.

What's the word on Price? He looks like he has taken a step forward. Sure he missed a couple catches, but he was open down the field, which is what we need. He also showed some toughness.

Like the ability to play through obvious concussions :?

It didn't seem like an obvious concussion to me. But, he sure did hold onto the ball even though his head about got ripped off.

I was shocked we saw him in there again. His head bounced off the ground so hard. Good for him, though. He's a tough dude and I agree he was getting open down field a lot. Hope he sticks around.

Unfortunately Price is one of the young guns that has indicated he wants to move on. Maybe after having a good game he will have a change of heart!

Parker has terrible hands IMHO. I remember watching a video clip of him trying to catch balls out of the Juggs Machine on this forum and he missed a lot of them. He uses his body to catch most everything which is not a good technique. However once he secures the ball he is a fairly dynamic runner.

It would be extremely stupid for Price to transfer. Especially Price. He's the favorite of the freshmen WRs to step into a big time role after Gentry and Mulhardt are gone. He could be the next Gentry. When Gentry went down he was top 15 in the nation, or something like that, in receiving yards. That could very easily be Price in two years. It would be so dumb for Price to transfer.

Well, once we get an actual WR coach, we will hopefully see much improvement amongst the WRs.
If Bohl is aware that he has some disgruntled wr's, then it would be wise to make a hire sooner than later. Unfortunately, both the guys I've heard mentioned have teams that will play in a bowl.

I understand what you are saying here but winning is just as important to some as an individual national ranking. Think of it this way would you rather be an all-state running back on a team that didn't win a game or an all conference RB on a state championship team? I think many of these players are looking for a bigger stage and want wins and bowl game appearances rather than being a big fish in a little pond. I think they see that what they were fed during the recruiting process is a bunch of "Bohl" pun intended. Once they get here they realize that this program is a long way from being a top echelon team. Now I must concede that most of them will not achieve the level as Kongbo and Dobson but a few may. If there is one thing I know for sure about the new recruits is that they all think they are going to play in the league.
