NDSU @ WYOMING, Sept 13th, We coming!

Inconsistent, not terrible. But thats been like that Glenn's entire Wyoming career.

I do think NDSU has the stuff to beat UW, but I wouldn't gloat that much, The reason NDSU lit up those FBS teams is because both had terrible run defenses. While Wyoming may have no clue what to do with the pass they always are strong at stopping the run. Believe me if they can stop Ian Johnson they can definitly stop Tyler Roehl.

My bad... Terrible probably wasn't the correct word to use. I guess the reason that i'm high on my teams has to do with the types of teams that we beat. We killed CMU (which was the MAC champion). We killed a middle of the road MAC team in Ball State (which hung with Michigan the same year we played them). While i'm not sure how the MCC or MAC compares, I think that we have certainly played competition that is at minimum at the same level as Wyoming.

Here is the deal with Tyler Roehl. He's very BIG. He's very FAST. He's a Mike Alstott type runner. He doesn't go down on the first hit and he runs a 4.45 fourty. He averaged 6.9 yards/carry last year (that is good for 4th in all of FCS). In the Minnesota game last year he outran the UofM defensive backfield several times and if they were in his way he bowled right over them.

Outside of Roehl, we have a kid named Pat Paschall. He's our change of pace back. He is quick and very elusive. Typically we ram the ball down the throats of our opponent and when they are on their heals we then give them the speedier back to put them away. He also averages 6.3 yards/carry last year.

If that is not good enough, we have a third back, Pete Blincoe, who also averages 5.5 yards/carry.

We're a run first team. We always have been (back to our D2 days when we won 8 national championships) and always will be. We pass -- effectively (our QB had a 164 rating last year) when we need to but it's always the second option.

I am sure that we can win this game. Who knows if we will. I can tell you however that on paper we will not be overmatched.

LOL.LOL.LOL.LOL.

Alright, I can understand UVA fans coming on this board and talking smack to us last year...but this is unwarranted and even comical! You guys didn't even win your own conference last year. How'd you guys do in Brookings? ya thats what I thought..you're not even the best team in the Dakotas. What'd they do? shut down your run game?? If thats all we need to do then we're money. If I were you I wouldn't compare your running back to a great like Mike Alstott..thats a lot of disrespect to Alstott to throw his name on someone like a label. You obviously have NEVER seen our linebackers play. Theres a reason why they've coined the nickname of the 'bounty hunters' of the conference! You can take shots at our offense, but you're only making yourself look ignorant by taking shots at our linebackers or D in general.

Also, I don't respect fans that talk Hypothetical smack talk...because you haven't officially been slotted yet. You all are pretty god damn cocky for an FCS team that can't win their own conference.

Actually, NDSU was a far better team than SDSU.. SDSU crapped their pants against major competition last year, and beat up on the patsies. As they say in college football, any given Saturday, and that's how SDSU won that game.

And.. the university officially announced NDSU on the schedule today, per Wyoming Athletics:

The win people overlook for NDSU last year is the Central Mich win. NDSU destroyed CMU who was a Bowl team (lost to Purdue 48 - 51) who also won their conference, the MAC. Sure Minnesota sucked last year, but suck or not, they are still a Big Ten team with all of the resources that comes with that.

Still, last year was just that. And all of the past I-AA wins for the Pokes are also in the past.

We get to see two new and different teams, and I think UW is lucky it is a home game. If I were a UW fan, I'd be happy to have another home game, but not too happy that we had to schedule a top 10 FCS team. It is a no win situation. You win, and get no real credit, because FBS teams are supposed to beat FCS teams...even if the FCS team you play is, in fact, as talented as the bottom quarter of the FBS or so. But if you lose...it is a complete embarassment.

NDSU comes in with a chip on their shoulder and some confidence, but UW does have home field advantage, and coaches who know all too well what the FCS is all about.

I just hope it is a good game, but always have to root for the "underdog" FCS team when they play FBS teams. After that I usually root for the "underdog" FBS teams who are not in a BCS conference. I just can't stand the BCS system, freakin money grubbing collusion loving BCS conferences piss me off. Spread the wealth some more ya pukes.

Obviously this means a lot more to you than it means to us. I can't remember the last time we scheduled a D-1AA team that wasn't top 10 and no matter how much their fans blather on before the game, UW always wins no matter how good or crappy UW happens to be at the time. If you win, then you'll have our attention. Until then, I'm just glad we get one more patsy in Larame so I can spend one more fall day tail gating with my friends and working on my tan in the stands during the game. That Western Thunder marching band sounds great and the Wildfire dancers are hot. If you guys can make a game out of it....all the better.

JahGriz, while I share your feelings for the BCS....a win over Central Michigan is hardly worth mentioning. Central Michigan lost to Kansas 52-7, Purdue earlier in the season 45-22, and to Clemson 70-14. Yeah, they might have won their conference but so could about half the MWC teams last year, next year, and for the forseeable future. I may be a little biased, but I prefer to think I am just well informed about how good the MWC really is.

Wyoming beat a team (UVA) that actually went on to beat some teams worth mentioning. NDSU vs CM, or Wyo vs UVA..... all it really proves is potentially how good one and how bad the other can play on the same day, but at least our best win over an opponent went on to do something.

I respect NDSU like all non-BSC teams and will continue to root them for much of the same reason I like to root for my Pokes and MSC teams - just wanted to point out what I thought was a weak point. I hope for a good game that is in hand by early in the forth quarter so I can relax, unlike our squeaker against TCU last year when we tried to give it away at the end.

Beware NDSU fans, the UVA fans had some monster sized crow to eat last year, don't build it up to early.......

Oh, let them crow about it.....it'll make the win over the Bison that much sweeter.

You guys over on Bisonville are far more concerned about the Rockies/Dodgers game after the game than they are about actually playing us. So don't pull the 'UW doesn't respect us' card... because it seems that Bisonville.com has already marked this down as a win on their schedule..

Also, how many wins did Minn have last year?...ya thats what I thought.

Speaking for all of us Minnesota faithful on this board (me), I think we've all slapped them around enough...lol.

The good news is, they can't possibly be any worse this season...

The thing about this game that I am most excited about, is the fact that we now have 7 home games, which can only increase the chance of making a bowl game. All we have to do is hold serve at home, and we are set. Win a couple of road games in conference and we may be talking something special here.

Anyone else ready for a sweet couple of weeks?!?!?!?! NCAA March Madness followed up by the NFL Draft and the Baseball season kicking off...about the best month of the year not involving college football games!

Are you serious? They are chalking this up as a win for them? Its one thing to be confident in your own team but another to prove that you must have an IQ below 80 to live in North Dakota.

Every year it's the same thing, I'm not saying everyone, but a lot of our FBS opponents fans and such look past us. It's the same old thing, "WE DONT LOSE THESE TYPES OF GAMES". Then look what happens. NDSU beats Minnesota, Central Michigan, Ball St.. hmmm... what a surprise it's happening again. We will have another solid team again next season and I am expecting the same result like I did against the U of M and CMU, another BISON WIN. Keep underestimating the Bison, it only fuels the fire...

One thing, both teams will have new QBs. Wyo may have Crumb over Sween and NDSU will have Mertens.

I looked the stats over. Its a good matchup, in fact NDSU looks a little better on paper.

The Cowboys lost some defensive players, mostly backfield and linebackers to graduation as did NDSU.

The big difference are the intangibles. How much difference will the extra scholarships make and are the stats comparable because of the higher level of week to week competition for the Cowboys. NDSU matched up pretty well with the FBS teams they beat and it didnt seem to make any difference.

I agree with spindoctor02 - WE NEED A BOWL GAME-ANY BOWL GAME! Win over UCLA in 2003 was great, but we have been too good (unfortunately inconsistent as well) not to get another bowl game since then. We know from our history that we have to be better than the rest to get selected. Some New Mexico fans will admit that we should have had their bowl game in 2006 (3rd in our conference-yet 4 other teams go bowling). Lets not forget the snub (94?-95?) when we were 9-2. Nowadays the MWC has more tie-ins so all we need is to win most our non-conf games and at least half our conference games to get selected. That my friends has been the problem. While teams like New Mexico have had easy non-conference games they have managed to do well enough in conference games to get selected to many bowl games lately, and this year they finally won it. The conference games will really determine the success of this season.

So many of our games seem to have been determined by one play, so if we can make one more play, eliminated one more mistake, or the officials make one more correct call (yes, I mean AFA game) - I would be happy going to a lowly Bowl game in December.

I am so stoked for this game! I think the Bison will have thier work cut our for them. The key to the game will be how a new starting QB leads this team. Can the Bison fill the hole left by the graduation of Steve Walker........stay tuned folks this will be fun.

By the way.....daughter going to WYO....and the old man a NDSU Alumnus.....it is time to start the FAMILY FEUD!!

If I went to any other MWC board and bragged about those wins, I'd get laughed off the internet. A one win Minnesota team, a directional Michigan team (perenially an ESPN bottom 10 team nomatter how crappy the MAC was last year), and Ball St who until a few days ago I'd have sworn was a D-1AA or D-2 team.
