NDSU game thread.

He’s probably scared to death at this point. He clearly wasn’t prepared or talented enough for the speed at this level. He has slow, short, wide receivers that can’t or don’t get open, and a line that is so young that I don’t care who we have back there, they’d be running for their life. You can tell he cares and he’s trying. But he has no confidence or swagger at this point. Shoot, Sims looked faster on his one run at the end. But that’s not a real gauge since they had their cheerleaders in at that point.
It’s been happening to QB’s at Wyoming since Christensen was fired. Other than the first 2 years transitioning to Bohl style when Bohl had the athlete (Allen) of the century drop in his lap. Bohl had very little development amongst his QB’s and in all honesty Peasley played at his peak level because the door was opened. The caveat - and this isn’t any personal knock because I know my limitations athletically with each year I participate - Peasley was demoted as the starter at USU and then he transferred. Bohl was fortunate USU made that move in his national QB search. Who was his prime development target? Sawful’s first prized QB (Svoboda) that could only make his JC’s practice squad before Bohl signed and redshirted. Then Anderson comes in to replace a really bad Svoboda with a lot of promise but the overall offense was so weak he looked bad. What’s Anderson doing now? Putting up huge FCS numbers like he did at Southlake Carroll after taking the spot over from Quinn Ewers.

Wyoming and the offensive philosophy for the past decade has become the place where a QB and WR’s don’t want to come. The mindset here is that the defense wins the game and the point scoring side of the game objective is not the priority. This OC from William and Mary doesn’t exactly bring anything noticeable to the offense and this “expensive superstar” QB is playing D2 superstar level in the FBS which is like asking an 85 lb 10 year old from 5th grade flag football to go kick ass on the varsity football team against faster 200 lb 17 year olds.

Wyoming under Sawful is a mediocre level FCS program at the best. There are maybe 10 FBS programs absolutely worse than Wyoming and probably 20 that are interchangeable as bad or shows some life any given week.

The QB position has been worse than better and the components of the surrounding team are poorly coached. With their inherent limitations and being poorly coached the entire unit gets exposed by any well prepared physical team. NDSU gave up over 300 yards to AFA and Sac St but Wyoming gets a bad FCS team Fordham numbers at 170.

Our offense just plain sucks and the defense isn’t exactly overwhelming to the opponent. The D is good enough to give a team that can score 24 or more points a chance to win. Our 14 points per game average is easily beat by the 22 average given up. Nothing was fixed on offense. It is not a good unit.

Here is the reality we are a team full of FCS caliber players coached by and FCS coaching staff. Burman has failed for over ten years to course correct and its 2015 all over again. There is only on Power 5 player on this entire roster and our genius coaching staff is making him split carries with a guy from Western Illinois. Does this remind you of last year when our coaching staff refused to get Chris Durr Jr the ball. Good players make play just watch any game besides a Wyoming game. Further point in the first quarter when the NDSU player made a great contested catch, what do we do on 4th down in the red zone, not make a play. Systematic issues galore good luck getting anyone who wants to fix the mess of Burman and Sawvel.
I watched Chris Durr have 7 catches for 149 yds and a TD today against Nebraska. Still fast.

ADs are hired and fired based on football success and 1 bad stop could be a career killer.

That might be an even worse result IMO that could prevent Wyoming from having a good athletic department to position for long term success.
Absolutely.

This is what has been happening to the major revenue athletics under Burman:

And what good AD is coming Wyoming who had nothing to do with nor say in the coaching staff hiring?!? ADs are hired and fired based on football success and 1 bad stop could be a career killer.

Long term success? Let’s try for short term first. The next AD better be good enough that they can produce a burst of success quickly, handle what they’ve been dealt, and then gets plucked away by a bigger opportunity. The days of long term success with the same AD or coach at a G6 school are over. I’d be more concerned about who would want to come in when we’re at a new all time low. That’s less attractive than not getting to pick a head football coach. No matter how you shake it, either scenario isn’t great though. Guess we’ll have to wait and see.

That’s the point. If we hire a coach and then try to bring in an AD we are guaranteed to be hiring a bottom of the barrel AD candidate with no guarantee of any success whatsoever.

The new AD has to have a hand in hiring the football coach. If not, we are only guaranteeing failure.

Not here.

So it's been said we're at the bottom of the fcs level...hello...mcfly...hello ...d1 means nothing anymore and I think we're at the bottom of the barrel and time to consider fcs level...at least consider...if we stay this route with this Sawful coach we'll wish we had Koenning back....p.a.t.h.e.t.i.c

Good game! The NDSU D was smothering. At KO Wyoming had the 3rd best D in the MWC. The O weak, 5th at KO.

I know from your talk you guys feel the team is no good, bad coach etc. you are in pretty good company, For one reason or another most teams NDSU beats say their team was down. Cowboys played pretty well for a team down like they are.

It’s a nice trophy. I guess each school pd half? I’m sure NDSU will bring it to Laramie next season so you guys can get a good look at it. Until then best of luck on the rest of your season!

They played pretty well? Did we watch the same game?

This NDSU fanbase is something trying to convince themselves that their win over Wyoming shows anything other than Wyoming is a really really bad team (which all of us knew well before kickoff).
No kidding. Threw for 52 yards and completed five passes but played pretty well. On what planet? NDSU will have a couple of chances to get wins about which to gloat and feel good but this ain’t one of them.

NDSU has a nice team. Congrats to them. They made us look even worse than we have looked in our other games. They would be well served to not see their victory as any more than dominating a bad team.

Yes, they simply got beat by a better team. That’s what happens when a team loses, they get outplayed. A good team comes back, good fans support it because they love the game.
Two things can be true: NDSU dominated Wyoming. True. Wyoming was, is and will be terrible until changes are made - NDSU and Central Michigan and CSU all beat a bad Wyoming team. Congrats. NDSU is just like CSU and CMU. More will fill that same part of the sentence: Oh look, Wyoming lost to _____________ this week and looked awful.

And forgive us for not being content and showering praise on a team and staff that are inept, overpaid and feckless. We have set attendance records for the past several years while this band of idiots have destroyed something many of us grew up watching win meaningful games against meaningful teams. Forgive us for finally breaking and saying things need to change. I know NDSU would love for us to keep Jay and Tom for eternity so you can win meaningless trophies and crow about how amazing NDSU is. No one here much cares about NDSU. I’m not sure why you care what we think. You beat us. You are awesome. Your dome is magnificent. Your record is stupendous and I see a great fight between you, UNLV and UNM for the championship of a meh conference. You have huge minnows to fry. Get to it.
