MWC Realignment

I don't claim sources often but was talking to someone pretty well informed. I didn't realize just how much of a wild card the 4 corner schools are. They have big decisions to make. Preemptive or reactive. Suds is gone at minimum.

We have to really hope the PAC stays intact. If the 4 corner schools leave for Big 12, we are in big trouble.

Or completely dismantled. If 4 corner schools and suds are big12 bound, the situation changes quite a bit.

I agree with Ragtime.

I honestly think the PAC-12 gets completely destroyed.

Big 12 gets the 4 corners schools.
Big Ten grabs Oregon and Washington and maybe both Bay Area schools

MWC gets the leftovers...Oregon State and Washington State.

Seems like I've heard that scenario somewhere before...

Reports state asstecs have given written notice to MW of their intention to leave the conference.

We all knew it was coming.

They did the same thing when the Big East came calling and we ALL know how that ended up!!!

History is going to repeat itself!!!!!!!

Really wish the mwc would do something like issuing a statement and talking about what is going on.

1. This happened an hour ago. I'm sure the league will have something to say at some point, but not right away.

2. "They're trying to find out what we're willing to do," said a Mountain West source briefed on the exchange. "They want to see if the Mountain West Conference is going to handle this nicely. Well, that's not going to happen. Everyone wants to find the best financial path for themselves, and it's clunky."

All comes down to pac12 tv contract. If it's good enough, suds is gone. If it's not, 2 or 4 of the 4 corner schools are hitting eject. The fallout after that is unpredictable.

suds is in a tough spot.

Tough spot.. It’s like telling your wife your headed out the door but you’ll be back if things don’t work out with your girlfriend over the next 30’days. Screw ‘em. .

Indeed, the MW had to have a high level of belief it would happen. Not news - it was a matter of when.

Excellent analogy. The morons didn't learn from the Big East debacle!!!!!!

Yeah, what the hell reason would the MWC have to let them off the hook? "Sure, don't pay the money you owe us for putting us in a bind. We have so much of it anyway."

If they want out so badly, they can certainly afford to pay the full exit fee. No way in hell should the conference let them off of the hook.

Terrible analogy. College football is a very lucrative marketing arm for universities.....ie, it's a business and point of the business is very different than the point of a spousal relationship.

Relationships are important in business but they take a back seat to actually making money. If the "Big East debacle" had markedly better financial upside, SDSU and BSU would not be in the MW right now, and rightfully so.

It will be interesting to see what happens now. It still may be a mistake to leave the MW for the PAC.... But if you have a chance at all income increase at the level of getting into a P5 conference.... It is definitely a move that a school would be idiotic to not consider.

I liked the analogy and would post it again. SDSU shouldn’t be given the chance to return. Screw’’m

and Happy Father’s Day to all the fathers in Poke-land.

I just don't know where this crazy merry-go-round stops. There is no loyalty or anything - it's just about money and that is a shame.
