I'd love to see UNM beat Boise but with their trainwreck happening now, I just don't see it, and we need USU to mop shop with UNLV tonight....we'll tune in and see what happens

Well if we want any shot at an at-large via automatic consideration with a split MWC championship, I think having 2 or 3 wins over Top 100 RPI UNLV would help. Last I saw, UNLV was right at 100-ish. So them beating USU would boost their RPI.

But at this point, I just want the MWC Championship, and MWC Tourney Championship. 7 more wins until the Big Dance. Then hopefully at least 2 more!

There is no "at-large by automatic consideration." Even if SDSU loses two game and we win out and we were regular season champs by ourselves, no split-title, WE ARE NOT in the running for an at-large. Boggles my mind that some still are thinking about this. It's MW tournament or bust.

I disagree. We are not today, but if we somehow outright won the regular season title (longshot), I think we'd have a chance. Conference titles go a long way...there has never been an MWC champ to not get an at large berth, including Wyo in 2002. In fact, I believe our RPI should this play out will be similar to the 2002 team's.

I hope I didn't further boggle your mind.

The PAC 12 regular season champ has been left out in recent years. If the PAC 12 regular season champ can be left out, you better believe a weak on paper MW champ can and will eventually. I hope that doesn't boggle your mind. And I also am not sure the 02 team would receive an at large bid today. I think they probably would, but people forget how nervous and how close we were to being left out that year, especially after getting upset by SDSU in the semi-finals. The committee is much harsher regarding poor OOC play and weak SOS.

And in fact you are wrong, a MW champ has been left out before, us in 01. I think that could have played in the back of the committee's mind when they gave us the 02 bid.

Conference champs would get us into the conversation but we'd still be on the outside looking in barring MW tournament title this year

I'd love to find out who is right as that would mean a MW title for wyoming but I don't see it happening, so it's MW tourney or bust.

Since 99-00 the Regular Season MWC Champion single or shared at least one of the teams has gone into the NCAA.

That's a better post Calpoke. I wish I could see us winning the next 6 straight games and losing in tourney championship but I feel like we'll drop either the UNM or UNLV road game. If anyone would be happier to eat crow after winning the next 6, I'm sure it would be you. I know I would. Wasn't the 01' bounced in first round of conference tourney? I believe we did and that is why we didn't get bid.

The zero chance talk is absolute rubbish. There's a lot that goes into getting screwed for the tournament. I think a few bad regular season teams that win tournaments take a lot spots from teams with résumés like Wyoming's. If Wyoming can prove its the second best team during regular season and in the tourney, I think we get in.!

MWC Standings through Tues (2/24/15):

SDSU 12-3
BSU 11-4
WYO 10-4
USU 10-5
CSU 10-5
FSU 7-7
UNLV 6-9
UNM 6-10
AFA 5-10
Nev 4-10
SJSU 0-14

You have no idea what you're talking about and you should stop posting

No, he shouldn't because he is right. We have zero, ZERO chance of an at-large birth. There is nothing we can do in the next 6 games to change that.

There are going to be a lot of butt hurt people on here if we win out but lose the tourney championship when we don't get a bid...ain't happening.

You should probably consider reading http://www.wyonation.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=12241" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; as it proves exactly opposite that you are so dead set to believe.

3. The committee will form an "underconsideration” board consisting of an alphabetical listing of teams that:

a. Received at least three votes in either of the columns of the initial ballot but did not receive enough votes to be an at large team;

or

b. Won or shared the regular-season conference championship, as determined by the conference’s tie-break policy where applicable. This does not include teams that won or shared a division title but were not the regular-season conference champion.

I read it, but that still doesn't change anything. Being considered doesn't make one any more likely to get a bid, it just means they'll talk about it before dismissing you.

I imagine the consideration would go something like this:

Member A: Wyoming must be considered because they shared the regular season title.
Member B: Alright, we've considered them...their SOS is WHAT?! Nope...who's next?

I'm not trying to be a Debby downder here, I WANT us to be able to get an at-large bid. The problem is that I follow college hoops outside of Wyoming and outside of the MWC, and the simple fact is that almost no one is talking about us in terms of the dance. The few times they are, it's basically to say we have no shot at an at-large. I realize that they aren't the committee, but if guys like Lunardi and Bilas are saying we are out, they have a pretty good sense of the pulse of the selection committee.

I would LOVE to be wrong and eat some crow...hopefully we just win the tourney and make all of this a moot point.

Which is why a number of us said we have to win the MWC Regular Season outright or the MWC Tournament. The entire debate was how does UW get there. They can get there winning the Regular season w/o a share going to someone else and at least showing up for the tournament or winning the Tournament.

To date there has never been a Regular Season Champion sitting at for the MWC come tournament time. I suppose would could be the first but the odds are in our favor if SDSU stumbles and we don't. Now there are some times when a 2/3 way tie all three teams didn't get in but not single winner.

I suppose there is a tiny chance of this, but I honestly don't think SDSU is going to lose 2 of their last 3 games allowing us the chance at a solo title. Hell, I doubt they'll even lose to BSU.

I tend to agree but it is in theory possible lol.

Wow. I can't believe we're dogs in this one. If I gambled I'd take the Pokes

We haven't won @ the Pit since 02-03, UNM is on the longest skid since 1959 I wouldn't bet on this game with your money.

Well, the USU game should be interesting. Both home teams won in convincing fashion. Though now we are more or less at full strength (didn't help much last night, and a big part of that was Adams was having the worst luck for his shots, but still), which we were not when we went to Logan.

And we face the winner of the BSU/winner of play in game? From what I have seen, BSU has a similar style to the sheep, but instead of the do it all big man (Thugvilla), they have a high scorer in Marks.

Best case scenario? We beat USU and then we beat BSU in tough game, and then we face the sheep for the title and smack them around.

But that's a lot of best case speculation.

Getting past BSU is a long-shot, IMO. They are playing lights out.

The good thing about facing Boise St. is we match up great against them and they have no answer for us down low but the problem is will we utilize Nance and Cooke down low or will Shyatt have them standing at the top of the key passing it around and taking jump shots? I think that is what it all boils down to.

BEST case scenario would be all that except csu losing in the first round...that would put a serious dent in their at-large hopes. If they make it to the championship and lose they will have a much stronger case.
