Luke M out indefinitely with a hand injury

why are players so damn stupid at times. We have this great season going and then something like this happens. I'm not saying it was a fight or anything, but the school won't comment any further about it. Odd. this just pisses me off

Very unhappy about it. He better have fallen while shoveling snow and not have been doing something dumb

this article gives a little more insight but not much

Too much heart on this team. Someone will setup like Betz or mcmannen. I still say they win by 15 at SMU. Then it's another break before conference.

A broken finger isn't the worst injury in the world, especially if there is no structural damage. I would guess he misses 2-4 weeks at the most, if the report is correct. But as Shyatt said, he's a tough kid and he may only miss a couple of games. With it being his shooting hand it could pose some problems though.
On the bright side of it if the Pokes can weather this storm it would mean fresh legs for Martinez down the stretch in conference play and also giving the younger guys a little bit of experience in his absense. Hopefully Grabeau is fully healthy. I do like that Shyatt has confidence in his team and trusts them.

With Grabau back, I expect Adams to do his best Martinez impersonation, he's clearly the guy on the roster to replicate Martinez's production. Not as good of a perimeter shooter but adequate and actually brings something to the table going to the basket that Luke doesn't. Sobey gets an expanded role off the bench. Our depth is tapped out though, the Gilmore/Grabau/Adams/Washington/Nance combo will have to average 30 minutes apiece per game, with Cooke and Sobey doing what they can to give those guys breathers.

Martinez's right hand is where injury is. Supposedly he shoots right handed but does everything else left-handed. That's lucky - at least his sex life won't be interrupted.

I could see it. I shoot left handed but do everything else right handed when I am playing hoops.

So by now we all realize that we don't really do the PG, SG, SF, PF, C line up, more of a 3G 2F lineup.

So how do we play now without luke?

Grabau (hopefully he stays healthy), Gilmore, Adams getting the majority of the minutes? Obviously Leonard-Nance down low won't change.

But does Sobey start coming in a lot more?
At least our team is used to playing extended minutes so we can have starters playing 35+ a game.

God I hope we can have Luke back for the SDSU game at the latest.

I think Luke will probably only be out for a couple of games with a broken hand or finger since it doesn't require surgery and sounds minor and no more than 4 at the most. So it isn't as bad as I first thought. I just hope that we can somehow stay undefeated. It would suck if we lose a game we shouldn't only because we don't have one of our best players.

On the other hand (no pun intended)... I remember Luke not getting very many minutes in a couple of earlier games this year where he sat out almost all of the 2nd half or something it seems like. Not sure if it was because of foul trouble or coach just didn't play him to get other guys minutes but I think we can still beat SMU and Boise at home. Then hopefully he will be back after that.

Sobe will have to step up!

I think he can! I have said it all year, this guy can play... He is one of the most talented players we have.. Sometimes goes a little fast but as far as a talent stand point he is very good

I can't imagine that this will leave his shooting touch unaffected, even if he is tough.

On a different note, I am really hoping that this is not the the result of someone off campus making ethnicity an issue, not that ice-covered sidewalks would help market Laramie and the program any better.
