List of Recruits who may have liked what they saw in ABQ

So, I'm really curious if there have been any players who now are considering Wyoming because of our bowl game win. Does anybody know of any player that is in such a situation now?

I don't think I've seen this guy listed as considering us before - apparently we offered him, though.
3 star DE Dartwan Bush http://rivals.yahoo.com/wyoming/football/recruiting/player-Dartwan-Bush-94528

Assuming Watts gets one, along with the 16 current commits - how many does that leave for us? Any specific prospects that we know have a real interest in getting on the train?

Still REALLY need a kicker.

Our poor kick-offs have to cost us about a touchdown on average per game.

We do need a kicker, but my feelings are that with the needs we have for many positions this coming year, I doubt we will offer any a scholly. Totally agree with you though.

I really wish most coaches would have the forsight to offer quality kickers and punters scholarships. If you can find a good kicker you can severly help your offense espcially if you can extend FG range by 10 yards.

A team can only offer a max of 25 schollies per recruiting class. Watts' scholly won't count against that number as he is already a member of the football team. With the openings left by players leaving the team (orth, etc..), Watts getting a scholly is a no-doubter and the team will still be able to recruit a full class.

Given an off-season to work on kickoffs, I would imagine Ian Watts would get a chance to handle kickoffs next year. He has plenty of leg. He just had limited experience kicking at all so I would imagine they had him kicking PATs and FGs this year and while he works to improve in those areas he will fine tuning the KOs aspect, too.

I still can't believe Orth left. That hurts for next season. Did anything more come out about why he left?

I am probably the only one that heard this...

But as I understand it, he left because he is a pussy.

I will not be surprised if Wyoming offers a scholarship kicker. Our current kickers are vastly under powered. I'm surprised we only gave up one kick return this season. The coaches did a great job covering this huge weakness. Watts is accurate and I'm very happy with his field goals, but he's really only good from about 40 yards....he needs to be good from 50-55 yards if he's going to punch kickoffs into the end zone. I hope we see a new kicker with power for kickoffs and long field goals and Watts for anything closer than 40 yards.

Thanks for the info Road. Looks like he has 3 offers so far. If he wants to put his name in the record books, he should come to 7200 ft and set some records and position himself for the NFL (not to mention come to an excellent school).

I wouldn't totaly throw UNLV out of the race for the kicker, but I think it will be closer with AFA and UW for him, with UW getting the nod (our special forces (as DC likes to call them) have been ranked in the top 20 this year).

our special teams was top 20?
According to stat sites I have visted. And it was also mentioned in the Boomerang I believe. And either it was commented on during the Border War, or it was commented on sometime during the Bowl game. But yes, our Special Teams have been pretty good this year. We were also ranked in the top 20 for turnovers as well.

I think that offer to a kicker was old, like before the season even started, and I don't think Scout has done a very good job updating its list. After giving Watts a full ride why on earth would Cowboys tie up another scholly on a kicker? Makes no sense.
