I'm sorry, but you have to be wearing some heavily tinted brown and gold glasses to think that this year's team is better than last year's. Some of our losses have begun to look a little better in retrospect like Colorado and SMU, but we're still a team that beats up on nobodies and that will get beat up in the conference, so at best we are more or less equal to what we were last year. But I really think we are a tad worse, we lost to a mediocre Summit league team in Denver, barely beat an awful Summit league team in South Dakota State in OT, and lost to a very bad Nevada team. I think 5 conference wins is all we can reasonably expect, we'd be REALLY lucky to get 8.
Losing Martinez hurt. Losing Washington wasn't as tragic, for a guy that I thought had NBA athleticism, he was a non-factor too often in games. And although I'd say we've improved a little from 3, I don't think we're great. I know that we need to be a little patient with Shyatt, the program was in such a dark place before he came, but he really needs to recruit some talent here and quick. Nobody on the team makes me all that excited for the future except for Adams (kinda sorta), and next year will be year 4. The team will be all people he's brought in.
