Klieman stays with NDSU.

Anytime a coach can improve himself by getting a head coaching job that deserves congratulations and so I am happy for him and I hope that he works out for NDSU. I kind of get the impression from the way that you wrote your post that this is kind of like..."in your face Wyoming"....I don't think that there should be any animosity between the two schools and after seeing what I have about NDSU I have become a big fan. I have no doubt that Wyoming will get an outstanding DC but I would imagine that the OC will now come to Wyoming as well as several other coaches. Lets hope that both programs do really well in the future!

Slightly disappointing. Getting Klieman would have been huge. Hope Bohl finds the right guy for Wyo at DC.

I understand your disappointment, but the important hire was Craig Bohl, because he will make sure that we get an outstanding DC that runs the defense the way that it should. Not to take anything away from Coach Klieman, he is an outstanding coach as well, but he isn't the only one.

FARGO – North Dakota State athletic director Gene Taylor today announced defensive coordinator Chris Klieman will be the next head coach of the Bison football team following the conclusion of the 2013 season.

Klieman will follow Craig Bohl, who accepted the head coaching position at Wyoming one week ago but will stay at NDSU through the end of his 11th year. Klieman will be introduced at an 11 a.m. press conference today.

Klieman, 46, is completing his third season at North Dakota State and his second as the defensive coordinator. He joined the Bison staff in March 2011 as defensive backs coach following a nine-year stay at Northern Iowa where he was the defensive coordinator, co-defensive coordinator and secondary coach from 2006-10 under head coach Mark Farley and 1991-93 under then head coach Terry Allen, who is now at Missouri State.

NDSU will be Klieman's second head coaching job. He was the head coach for one season at Division III member Loras College where he went 3-7 in an injury-plagued 2005 season. He had been the defensive coordinator at Loras the previous three seasons and transformed the Duhawks into one of the Iowa Conference's most feared defensive units. Klieman took Loras from ninth in the league in defense to leading the league in rushing defense, passing defense and total defense.

NDSU has led the nation in scoring defense each of Klieman's three years on staff, and the Bison have improved every year. NDSU allowed 12.73 points allowed per game in 2011 and are allowing just 11.4 points per game this season. He was named the 2012 Football Scoop FCS Coordinator of the Year and has coached a two-time Buck Buchanan Award finalist in cornerback Marcus Williams.

A native of Waterloo, Iowa, Klieman was a three-time All-Gateway Conference defensive back at Northern Iowa and a four-year letterwinner from 1986-90. He graduated from UNI in 1990 with a bachelor's degree in health education and earned a master's degree in physical education from UNI in 1992.

Following his playing career, Klieman was an assistant coach for the Panthers from 1991-93. He also had assistant coaching stints at Western Illinois (1994-96), Kansas (1997), Missouri State (1999) and Loras (2001-04).

Klieman and his wife, Rhonda, are the parents of two sons, Devin and Colby, and one daughter, Haley.

Time for Bohl to come to Wyo and let the new NDSU Head Coach handle their run in the playoffs.

I agree, but it won't happen that way. It is a classy act for both schools to allow Coach Bohl to finish out the season at NDSU, but knowing how much we need to get accomplished here and the fact that NDSU has its new HC and he is already in the program at NDSU, I think it would be great if Coach Bohl came now.....but I know that it won't happen.

We have got unfinished business here. Unlike your last coach, Bohl has class.. your going to love him.True Pokes fans want him to stay, it adds weight to his resume and the future of Wyoming Football.

Sounds like Vigen (OC/QB), Burns (WR/RC), Fuchs (OL) and Stanard (LB) are coming for sure. Kaligis was retained and most likely (RB).

So most of the offensive staff is set outside of TE coach. Defensively we need at least three more assistants correct, with one being the (DC). Need DL and secondary coaches.

This could be seen as a slap in the face of Vigen. He has been involved with NDSU one way or another for 18 years and then to be passed over as HC in favor of Klieman who has been with NDSU for only several years could possibly not sit well with him?

My only point was too many head chefs in the kitchen

Tht isn't going to happen. Bohl wants a 3pete on his resume and he is way to close to give that up. I don't think there is a team left in the playoffs that will beat the Bison.......and Bohl knows that too.

This won't damage the playoff run for the Fargo school. Everyone knows their place up to the end of their run, whether it be next week (Which, I doubt...) or January 4th.

A third championship only helps Bohl with recruiting for UW.

Sounds like Kramer, the S&C guy for NDSU is very likely heading to Wyoming also. To many outsiders, that would be a huge hire for the Pokes.

This sounds way too much like when the OC at Montana stayed behind to take over after following Coach Glenn from Northern Colorado to Montana. Wasn't the offense under Glenn the Achilles Heel of the U.W. team during his tenure?

Here is the story from the Wyoming Tribune-Eagle http://www.wyosports.net/university...cle_31ac1da6-65af-11e3-a934-0019bb2963f4.html

I hate to see the guy that's already our S&C guy get "let go", but our lines have been pushed around the last couple years by most teams.

Vigen has been under fire in the past, so I think its best he goes to wyoming. If he was ndsu head coach and god forbid we lost 2 games the fanbase would freak out...it was no win situation for him.

Kramer the strength coach is hired by the sports dept at NDSU. There will be a fight over him

Dead period recruiting in fbs so does bohl really need to be there?

In all seriousness, that was kind of a slap in the face to Vigan since he had been associated with NDSU for 18 years and was the OC and then to be passed over for the HC job by a guy that has been associated with NDSU for only 3 years! I would imagine that there is some hurt feelings there.

If Kramer resigns to go to Wyoming for more money what fight is NDSU going to be able to put up? Not much....

For a new HC at a school the dead period is a very valuable and busy time, as he is getting his staff together and lining up all of the recruiting targets to be contacted the moment the dead period is done. Just because it is called a dead period in relation to contacting recruits, in every other way it is far from being a dead period! Yes, in all truthfulness, Bohl does need to be in Laramie setting up the program and department instead of doing game plans in Fargo when they already have their HC on the staff now.
