What are the keys to the game against the Aggies?

Stop the run.

+1 in turnovers.

eliminate penalties.

We do these things and we win imho.

Thoughts?

Agreed. So do we stack the box and force their young QB to beat us in the air? Can we rely on our secondary to cover? Does their QB have the arm to do that? Or does this become a shootout with little defense? Hope not...

Looking forward to this game. I think we win in a squeaker, further demoralizing the Aggies.

GO POKES!

wellpoke, good questions. I am so nervous about our secondary, but I keep believing that they are going to have a breakout game one of these days. I truly believe they are great players....but wow do they seem lost back there!! Hopefully our offense continues to play well (knocking on wood right now :). I have a lot of confidence in our ability to stop the run, but this running back will be a huge challenge for us.

Load the box in a amebia style defense so they don't where the pressure is coming from. Play tight coverage on their wideouts and have safety or two back to prevent anything over the middle or deep. I have noticed that most of their passes are flare outs, quick slants and WR screens. I have not seen them go down the field at all, this could benefit us since we have been playing alot more man to man and up on the line. We can't miss tackles like WSU on these quick hitters or bite on the double move, we do this we might get a pick six or a couple of turns.

Chucky Keeton can throw the ball very well and he can scramble and make throws and plays on the run with his feet. Wyoming is going to have to outscore Utah St. if they are going to beat them. Wyoming will give up points. It would help if Utah St. came out flat this week.

I'm just hoping this game isn't like last year's USU-BYU game. One where USU is ready to finally win a game soundly.Last year, USU had lost some games leading up to their home game vs Oklahoma, SDSU and Fresno State. They weren't heart-breaking losses like they have had this year, but they came into the BYU game 1-3.They were ready and punched BYU in the teeth. The game was never close. I fear they finally put 4 quarters of football together.

I actually graduated from USU about 5 years ago. I saw their football games in the dog years. Gary A has turned that place around and there is a lot of confidence and support, although they are losing games. Let's just hope Saturday is NOT one of those games they happen to get it together.

Keeton is a decent passer. Not great. We win if they are forced to pass. If USU runs for 250+ yards, we lose. They will control the clock and wear down our small D line. They have a trio of RBs all capable of running for 100 yards.

If we can get a 2 score lead in the 4th, we win. If it is close, I have a hunch that USU won't piss a fourth game away like they have thus far.

With that said, I can't see this being a defensive battle. We actually moved the ball pretty well vs Nebraska and other opponents this year. USU has put up a lot of yards as well.

Auburn 448
WEBER STATE 635
COLORADO STATE 365
BYU 406

I agree with th post above saying we will need to outscore them to win. Because I don't think we are stopping them. The QBs they have struggled with are QBs like Brett Smith (Riley Nelson). Pete Thomas and St Heaps didnt do much against them.

I still say Wyo pulls this game out. Score will be in mid 30s.

I think this is a bad idea. Us Aggies have so few morals to begin with...
I've known this since "The Project". Here's to a Cowboy curb stomping of the Gaggies. :nutkick:

I just wanted to poke a little fun at this. This is something John Madden would say.

Is "The Project" before my time? I have seen it brought up a couple times and am clueless as to what the story is behind it. Anybody want to help me out?

Don't worry about it. It's just a conspiracy theory. Now please come this way so we can administer and eye exam...

One more reason BYU can rot in hell.

I don't want to hijack this thread and make it all about "the project".

But, why are we hating on USU for this? If the MWC was on the brink of utter destruction and our Cowboys were going to be pitched aside to rot, I for damn sure would want our administration to try to save our ass. Isn't that all USU would have been trying to do, make the best of the situation they were in, knowing the WAC was in trouble?

Kicking the fucking ball into the end zone for touchbacks on kickoffs. Seriously, what is our opponents' average field starting position on the season? The 35 or 40? Push them back 15-20 yards every possession, and they'll score a lot fewer points on us.

Here is one of the keys of the game-

http://www.weather.com/weather/wxdetail/84321?dayNum=4

Raining favors USU. We can run the ball too, but we can't stop it.

For Wyoming:

1. Exploit USU's horrible special teams for couple of touchdowns. Everyone else has.
2. Contain the pass rush like only BYU has done so far. Our secondary is young and improving but still vulnerable.
3. Simply take advantage of our 3:00 minute meltdown.

1 and 3 are a given. That should be enough for you guys.

For USU:

I don't know. A rain dance or animal sacrifice to lift the curse? Baldwin figuring out that Turbin should have more than 11 touches a game? Not fielding short punts inside the 15 with 2 minutes to play and an eight point lead? Having a home camera crew that can give the refs the same replay as their television feed when they need it? Not running slow development runs into a nine man front 3 straight times when you need a first down to seal the win.
